I posted this before, but it died down. It would interest me how many of you (The Community) is on board with this topic through a poll. Any suggestions are also welcomed.

I feel that this game should stop becoming a team death match. If I wanted to play that, I would go back to playing some Unreal Tournament. I remember that MechWarrior was mostly about going through missions. If you played MechWarrior series, you know exactly what I mean. "Primary Objectives, secondary objectives, and tertiary objectives".

In my opinion, the way the "Assault gametype" would be ideal is to complete these objectives. Think of how tactical the team will perform according to these objectives, rather than just seeing a bunch of "steam-rolls" or just boring base caps. I see that the teams are composed of 8 players per side. If each team was divided into two groups (offense/defense) I'm pretty sure the game would come down to very grueling battles down to the wire. End of game stats and rewards should reflect on how well has each team has completed these objectives.

Here's my thought, Have the map with multiple Primary Objectives, (Capturing/Destroying/Defending) buildings or bases located at different NAV points. Return to extraction points also as an important primary objective. As for Secondary and tertiary objectives, have them be kill all enemy mechs.

The point is to make the game more tactical. As far as I'm concerned, that is a feature not taken into consideration in MechWarrior Online. Not sure about everyone else, but these "steam-rolls" and base captures (in favor/against) are

It's pretty much a given we will, but I just hope we get them soon. Getting tired of only winning by capping or killing.

Eventually. There is really a lot of work involved there and we are barely done with the ground work here. So, high hopes for the future. Maybe next year. Would like to see it though.

I think their answer will be drop ship mutator. It is still tdm, but you get more than one life ^_^

yea well...sometimes i wish wewould get more gamemodes soon...and yes i mean modeS (plural)...especially all those nice mission based things that one can imagine within the BT universe...

but on the other hand, i am still happy that PGI is not a huge company that can just rush out things and survive from the popularity of their "main brands"... *coughsEAcoughs*...

so i just hope that things might speed up a little when they get some "human ressources" free for it ;)

Escort missions and attack/defend missions both would be great to have as options.

I'd love to blow up like a dropship or an HPG or a Brian Cache or something battletech related so much more than standing next to some weird steam punk oil rig.

Yeah. I think pretty much everyone agrees this would be awesome. Problem is that it takes a lot of resources to generate such scenarios, and even more to get them remotely balanced.

Though I, for one, hope they don't wait to get missions perfectly balanced before releasing them. Also, can we have all the MechCommander mission types represented? An incomplete list:
Search and destroy (TDM).
Pursuit (superior force tries to catch inferior force)
Base assault (attacker v. defender)
Convoy escort...road, rail, water (attacker v. defender, C-Bills based on percent of convoy destroyed/survived)
Objective defense/attack (either as a capture and hold or a surgical strike... cool modifier could be the defender not knowing what target has been assigned as attacker objective)
Escape (defender has lines that attacker tries to breach to run)

AND... Not MC but still good ideas:
Scattered drop (equal forces distributed widely across map OR superior force scattered, inferior force concentrated)
Solaris mode (PGI SHOULD PRIORITIZE THIS: 16 players distributed randomly around Alpine, Caustic, or River in a FFA. C-Bills for kills and placing in top 3. This would require very little additional work on PGI's part and I may file a suggestion to this effect soon)

Mission based game play sounds nice but would it really work in a online format like MWO? I mean how would you set it up to prevent one side from ignoring the objective and wining by simply kill the other team like people are doing now in conquest?

An escort mission could be a loss even if you lose not players and wipe the enemy team. All it would take is some in-flight projectiles to kill the VIP (transport, presumably). I'd assume that the escort game mode would require getting the VIP into a specific extraction zone.

OK I see what you mean, you kill the last guy but his final shots kill the VIP and wins the game for the attackers. The thing is how often will that happen? Unless there is some form of respawn like the proposed dropship mode one side could win just by killing the other team.

The only thing I can imagine is.... Community warfare... Might bring about actual objectives (metagame)... Slowly but surely..
