A criticism is worthless to a company when expressed in an immature and non-constructive manner. You can be against something if you like, but for the love of f*cking it sideways, be at the least mature and respectful.
Otherwise you just come off as entitled, spoiled and disrespectful.
This has been a rare lapse in an otherwise solid community. To those who did not fall into such mannerisms, you have my respect. To everyone else, buck the f*ck up. There's nothing wrong with PGI and Razer running a promotion. And there's nothing wrong with you not getting anything out of it.

This.
Everything PGI has done for this community and you get these asshats that would complain if they were hung with a new rope. Dont like it, dont buy it. Cant afford it, get a job and save your money like everyone else does.
To PGI, this is great. Looks very awesome and I will buy it for sure. Way to go guys!

Truth is like many said already it was bad move hyping things that only hardcore mechwarrior fans (and not all of them ) in US will buy when Mechwarror franchise need to reach and gain totally new playerbase in whole world...i dont know whos in charge in PR but he need to be scolded.
Supporting things like this (hyping wrong event - countdown etc) wont help franchise...
I dont mind razor and controller but it was shown in wrong time and in bad way ... wheres my mech

After all the hyperbole surrounding this I think even if they revealed 3 new mechs, that there would be disappointment it wasn't 4.
Hooking up with a company with a good (though debated) reputation is only a good thing. I do still think that they over did the "reveal" on this product, but then again the community might accept that they over did the "expectations" a tad as well.
Someone in another thread was asking when this will be available. Since it's concept, I think that they are following the new "Lean Startup" doctrine, whereby they are gauging interest in the product before they go into production. If they get a significant response, you can bet they will finish the product and go to production. If the reception is lukewarm, I wouldnt expect to see it leave the concept phase.
They might want to consider that rather than including a display, that they make the whole thing compatible with a tablet that the consumer already has, and can just bluetooth/wireless it from there.

I look to the link between the internet, the communicative medium of game forums, and 'gamer' electronic entertainment consumers comparatively heavy use of both to account for the phenomena of vocalizing mass knee-jerk reactions to industry news/announcements. I can't think of any other commercial product that garners quite this kind of reaction by a layer of its consumer base. The added fanboy hype for long-awaited franchise installments certainly doesn't help.
Looking over the community reactions to the Artemis announcement made me immediately think of this.
For me, the reactionary and immature comments are made worse by the fact that the E3 floor hasn't even opened yet, so whatever impending news does or does not come out of the show hasn't even been taken into account, yet comments read as if users are already heartbroken in disappointment. Take it easy, please.

Unless the controller has the durability of the Thrustmaster Warthog or Cougar, OR even the lesser Saitek X52 Pro, I don't see a whole lot of utility into a proprietary form-factor that can not be modified...
Instead of trying to tie us to a piece of hardware... Provide us with some API Hooks to Output the individual Diagnostic Screens on the HUD to separate video sources. Since I have no knowledge of the Crytek3 Engine, let alone MWO's interface design, I can't assume it's that easy. However, if they're already providing a concept image to output the data to a dumbed-down iPad, WHY not just give us the ability to program our own?
Hell, release it as a Third Party Developer license or some such, and charge $100. Similar to how the Torque Engine is. I've done quite a bit development work for embedded control systems, automated automobiles, and home office automation. Even Neuro-Controlled Devices utilizing EEG input (NeuroSky, and Emotiv). So I do know what is feasible, but it might not be entirely practical.
Actually, take that a step further, As a Free-To-Play Game, since you are pretty much required on users to buy Add-Ons, a third party developer package would be a great way to add some value-added features to the game. Especially by allowing users to work on embedding their own controller setups. Look at the options there are for the Flight Sim and 3D Racing Sims. There are a plethora of options for customization. Yet there has never been a fully supported Mech Sim environment available to the average user.. (I'm not counting the once every 3 years offers to buy old Tesla Pods). MW:LL does have some mod-capabilities, but not something I would necessarily consider "simulator" worthy.
Anyway, ADHD is kicking in, losing the ability to remain on topic....
Great attempt at creating something original for the MWO Community, unfortunately, it's not exactly well placed in terms of complete usability. Some people will be able to use it, and the Steel Battalion setup WAS a very fun device, But Dual Sticks + Pedals (or HOTAS) is the way to go if you're going to go for a control Setup, not a single stick + hotkeys, and an iPad that is below your FOV.

It makes me wonder what kind of edge those who buy this controller will have over everyone else. To be honest, if I spend 200 bucks to buy a controller, I expect to have an edge over mouse and keyboard players. With that said, I would hope any brand of joystick would offer and edge over other players.
is the screen a touch screen?

I apologize if you read my comment as universalizing characteristics about the forum user base. I didn't mean to sound as if I was describing the entire community, rather only those many who posted the flood of 'LOL PGI trolled us' and more lengthy reactions denoting extreme disappointment about the controller announcement not being whatever they hoped it would be.

I like my X52, but I think this is cool. I'd be interested in the keypad and the MFD if they sell seperately. Then I can just add some pedals and I'd be set!

For those many people, and quite a few others this is and was an announcement worth hyping. We had already been told that the beta is on and invites are going out, we were already told when the founders kit goes on sale, and we were already told when the founders "open beta" will begin.
That being said, what did you expect the announcement was going to be?
The control looks nice to me. The only thing that would bother me (if I was in the market and I'm not) is that it doesn't look like it is going to be modular. It really needs to be able to split into three pieces so the player can position them as they see fit.

I would get the darn thing too If I hadn't already spent over $100 on a good keyboard and mouse for this game...
