I dont know what happaned the last three days. I assume something on the server side, but I have not had a single game (out of about 30-50) where I did not at some random time drop from a match.
this is my omicron report....
Getting really mad because I have premium time ticking away on a game I cant play.

have you run the repair tool to make sure it's not .pak corruption causing those missing animations?

Yep ran it twice... Made sure it was the right build. NO avail though. But I'm pretty sure the animations are not what causes the crash. If it was the animations it would be an instatnt crash if there was a DD present in the game.

Same issue. Yep, before anyone asks, ran the repair tool. Mine seems to come and go in waves tho. And sometimes rebooting my router helps, sometimes it doesn't. Or maybe it never does and the wave just passes while its off coincidently, who knows. But I agree it's highly annoying. Its crippling the teams I get put on half the time because I just get dropped. It's also wasting my premium time. What is a malformed packet in this context anyway, and why can't they just ignore it? And if that's not an option, why at the very least can't we get a reconnect button? So frustrating, just dropped from 4 of last 5 matches. But early this morning was able to play 20 matches or so with no drops at all. Rebooting the PC doesn't help. I'm out of ideas as far as anything I can do on my end. I ran the pingtest.net and speedtest.net tests a few dozen times and got "A" ratings every time, not a single dropped packet. Speed was always within 0.5 Mb/s of what I pay for(50 Mb/s down, 5 Mb/s up). Higher in the upstream case. Jitter was always either 1 or 2 ms. So I'm just not sure. But I sure hope they do something about it. I submitted a support ticket about it like May 4th or so, and they said the May 7th patch would help. It did, a little. But its not quite fixed yet. If anyone has any workarounds or suggestions tho, I'm definitely open to trying.

thing is out of the last 10 games (at least, lowball figure) I have droppe from every single one with the "malformed packet"... not always at the same time, it's random sometimes it takes 5 mins sometimes 2 mins sometimes 30 seconds....
Its pretty much been unplayable last 3 or 4 days for me now, frustrating as all get out.

Hopefully this hot fix pulls some magic and makes this go away.

I'm sure the guys responsible for the netcode backend will comment on it, but there are certainly imperfections in that code that may cause it to affect certain people more than others... the act of compressing the data for the purposes of increasing bandwidth for 12v12 probably is causing some issues.

You skipped steps one and two where we
ignore the issue and pretend it doesn't exist
blame the problem on the user/computer/isp/aliens

MWO support had him do everything up to and including buying a wired NIC for his computer and reformatting with no fix.

Try a program called DNS Crypt and try messing with your Network Hardware Preferences and set all the right options.

There is also a program called TCP Optimizer which will set your network up for optimal settings and you can try Spybot Search and Destroy to get rid of spy/adware and immunize yourself from it, just in case.

There are things you can attempt, but no solid fixes are known from the looks of it.

I had same frustrating issue. I sent in a ticket couple weeks back on it. It's a really strange bug cause it will show up and be rampant for couple of days and then nothing for 1-2 weeks. Right now I switched my network cables cause I had same problem when one of those cables was connected to my xbox 360. Then I added new firewall software and used Advanced system repair tool to clean out more of the gunk. So far, I've had 2 crashes to mech lab due to malformed packet in couple of days. Still not sure if it has improved or not. Very weird bug.

It's bad packet handling in the games network code PERIOD. If the network code receives a single out of order packet it freaks out and drops you.

You can try dropping your MTU down to prevent fragmentation of packets or increasing (most store bought routers don't go above 1500) but that will not fix it 100%. There will still be times you get an out of order packet and the server says BYE!

Meh. all my set up seems very optimal.... I'm guessing this will get addressed 6 months from now and I'll be able to play again? Sweet....

I'm gonna run A bunch of different set up tests to see if I can make sure it's not my hardware (Router to Nic/ Modem To NIC/wireless Nic to Router) and I'll play with disabling all of my firewalls and turning them on one at a time to see if It's reproducible.

I've tried TCP Optimizer, no joy on that front.

I'm just glad this is an issue affecting more people than myself. I tried everything I could think of to resolve the issue on my end with no luck, including a fresh install of the game. It really sucks because of the seeming randomness of the dropped games. I could go as many as 20 games in a row without disconnecting, then D/C every game in a row for 10. I hope this issue gets some attention in the next couple of patches.
