Is anyone else seriously excited about this hero mech?! I love the jager as it is, but by the looks of it things are about to get even more nasty with ballistic and energy slots in the arms.

So much dakka dakka pew pew!

1 energy slot in each torso, 1 in each arm, and 1 ballistic in each arm.

I'm somewhat intrigued by the possibility of having 2x ppcs and 2x gauss in the arms (or at least 2x ppcs and 2x autocannons) but other than that, meh.

I was really hoping that the hero Jagermech would look like the classic Jagermech... an Urbanmech in a Colonial Marine exosuit...

Guess they did tease the Hero Mech today after all :) Seems to be an apocryphal mech, since I could not find anything about a notable Jager named "Firebrand" on Sarna. Looks nice though, but it probably is as squishy as all the Jagers.

Seems it will be a long road for me, waiting for TBT hero mech :) Own 2 variants, don't like 2 others.

Paint scheme looks pretty cool to me, but it is a Jagger. As much as I WANT to like Jaggers, I can't.

I have a guess. Do you see devil's head on the mech and flame tongues around? I found suitable "hero" in TRO 3039:

Quote

“Devil” Donald Vincent: A former mercenary, Devil Don is a freelance MechWarrior who often fl irts with banditry. Most recently Devil Don took a contract to help defend a small factory on Jonathan during the Fourth Succession War. He and his JagerMech were out when the AFFS arrived to take control. Citing his contract, he prepared to engage the armored company sent to capture the factory. When he failed to move immediately, the Davion company ignored him and fired a barrage into the factory. As the fires burned out of control, Vincent simply turned and watched. When questioned later, he shrugged. “I was contracted to defend the factory,” he said. “With the factory burning, what point was there in getting in a fight?”

Indeed. Additionally, "Devil Don" is also listed in TRO 3025 as well.

I suspect that like the other JM6 variants, it would be limited to a total of eight (8) hardpoints.

----------

Personally, I think it would be far more interesting to have a Hero JM6 be anything other than a (potential) faux/"poor man's" Rifleman; 'twould both be better to let the JM6 stand as its own 'Mech rather than a pale imitation (in much the same way that the Cataphract, across all of its variants, is its own 'Mech rather than necessarily a faux/"poor man's" Marauder) as well as keep the niche open in the event that PGI ever gets the go-ahead to introduce (their own rendition of) the actual Rifleman.

Thoughts?

-----

So, are there any notably heroic, or at least notable, and timeline-appropriate canon JagerMech pilots?
  • Timothy Ingram (TRO 3025, pg. 88) - Lieutenant in Smithson's Chinese Bandits; known for being a proud and loyal, and a first-rate strategist.
  • Diana Cheung (TRO 3025, pg. 88) - MechWarrior and Technician with the Davion Guards; known for her aptitude with machinery as well as in battle; her 'Mech is inherited by her son Davis Cheung (below)
  • Donald Vincent (TRO 3025, pg. 88; TRO 3039, pg. 148) - Formerly of the Crimson Ace Dragoons; "A former mercenary, 'Devil Don' is a freelance MechWarrior who often flirts with banditry"; known for being moody, brash and temperamental ("He is most famous for walking his 'Mech through the palace of a former employer after a wage dispute.") and hyper-pragmatic (“I was contracted to defend the factory,” he said. “With the factory burning, what point was there in getting in a fight?")
  • Bennett Chang (TRO 3039, pg. 148) - Subcommander in the Red Guards (a unit within the CCAF); known being an expert in concealment, and for painting his 'Mech to look like FedSuns units with a large CCAF logo across the back (to mitigate friendly fire)
  • Davis Cheung (TRO 3050U, pg. 74) - Subaltern in the Second Davion Guards; son of Diana Cheung (above), and inherited her 'Mech
Of note is that none of the TRO entries describes the loadouts of the individuals' 'Mechs (though, Ingram's unit has a faulty leg actuator and a pronounced limp - potentially implementable as a speed-related quirk).

Thoughts?

I second Evinthal, the chassis to make proper use of ballistics either needs to go awfully slow with small STDs or risk with XL engines to mantain a decent speed.. and a XL with those big side torsoes is a death sentence. For the same weight I prefer the risk of being headshotted and go around with my K2. The only mildly interesting variant is the JM6-A, but I gladly skipped the exp way only to keep that.

This firebrand looks awesome in its texture, but it's basically a JM6-S with one set of energy hardpoints shifted from the side torsoes. The advantage of having those dual energy in the arms makes it certainly more interesting then the A, but yet it will cost 4875 MCs. So it's a no go for me (I didn't even bought neither Misery nor HM and these are chassis I like many times more than a Jager..).

I'm not seeing the draw. You can't put any sort of heavy energy/ballistic loadout combination while maintaining max armor and any sort of speed that wouldn't end up killing you. The only thing that I can come up with is AC2x2 w/ 4 tons of ammo, Lrg Laser x4, 230xl and 2 additional DHSs (11 total). Why is this awesome?

More like a tribute to the future JagerMech-III (2xPPC, 2xUltra AC/2's, 2x ML) http://www.sarna.net...i/JagerMech_III

I'm still fired up to see this in game. Rifleman was my favorite TT mech as a kid, and lets be honest, they will never attempt to include actual unseens even redesigned no matter how much players want to see them. There may be more optimized configurations for sure, but it's going to provide me with hours of enjoyment.

Yeah, I sqeeee'd a little bit when I saw it on the splash page tonight.

Haven't really been excited about a hero 'mech since the Flame and Fang came out. This one, however seems like it was made for me. Almost literally.

Seeing this come up on the front page got me excited to the extent i was having flashbacks of recieveing cool transformer and micromachine toys as a kid. That **** was all the range in the 80's. ;)
