Piranha, I just wanted to say thanks for writing mech reveals with realistic female characters. Women are far too often used as sex objects in video games and it's refreshing to see a developer who is willing to identify a character more with their profession and actions than their gender. In each mech reveal short that has a female protagonist (almost all of them, I think) the focus is on the pilots's skills, her mech, and her thoughts as a mechwarrior. I want you guys to know that as a feminist I appreciate what you've done thusfar and look forward to more well written characters (of either gender) in your game.

Of course there's always the problem of going too far the other way. In TT RPGs I've often seen men playing female characters in the same way they would play guys. Where they have no female aspects whatsoever other then what's written on their character sheet. In games I would like to see more female characters that are feminine without being sexualized. Too often women have to essentially abandon their gender all together to be taken seriously.

The devs are going to have to have a dancing hula man in the cash shop now, for gender equality purposes. *approval*

Feminism and sexism are equally abhorrent when taken to extremes.

That's funny. I'm actually going to my monthly Humanist meeting in a couple of hours.
But ya I agree. All groups should be championed equally without placing one cause above the others.

I also like the fact that the women pilots in Battletech are not teenage high school girls with pink hair, giant eyes, who can only expresses themselves by going "AIIIIIIIIIYYYYYIIHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

I have to admit that when I was in my teens and twenties, I was a bit of a meathead, and thought of women as sex objects myself. As I've grown older, I've changed, some of my best friends (no not only girlfriends, just friends) are women now.
It makes me uncomfortable to be around idiotic, shallow treatment of people now. Everybody is a person, they've got their own goals, thoughts, and values.

You're lucky you're in the 21st century. You don't want to see older pictures with mechs and women.

I have read many a table top/P&P RPG and I have seen that several use the feminine instead of the masculine to describe the actions the player can take. This is most common in Shadowrun as the writers always used "she" instead of "he" to describe an action, with exception to the fluff detailing an event.
This really is not an uncommon thing in RPG circles and since many of the developers and story people have come from that background. It is easy to see that they brought that proclivity with them.

I agree with original post. This is Battletech, not anime! Thank you devs!

Female mechwarriors spend too much time in the Engineering bay and not on the battlefield...they also take at LEAST 3 times longer reloading and outfitting their rides.
Lets not even get into the Neuro helmet messing up their hair. A nightmare for the CO to listen to that all over the COMS.
