Can we have a mech startup sequence and computer sounds in a young, sexy male voice?

Why is that guy wearing a belt with his thong? Does that strike anybody as odd? Seems a touch formal...

I want those mudflap style logos, but instead of scantily clad women they should have men in speedos. for, um... ironic reasons.

I'd prefer a range of options from Gruff male voice to even the gruff german or nordic female voice. :(
(I'll leave any examples to you guys :D)

I think for starters we should get a basic selection of either male or female voice. Then they could make additional voices purchasable.

Nah... I always wear a bow tie with mine. Sometimes a cummerbund! O_o

Nothing more attractive than a strong woman. Not one who thinks she deserves men to grovel at her feet and forces herself overbearingly on others, but one who actually is self empowered, strong of character, and will stand up for herself and others. Jackie Brown is one of my favorite movies because of how Pam Grier's character takes control these chaotic circumstances to overcome others who are trying to take her life and liberty from her.
Also not to be confused with a muscle woman. They can be hot, but they can be scary too. Really scary.

I could get used to Jeremy Renner telling me all systems were nominal. I think I'd prefer Tricia Helfer saying it though. :(

I don't care if you are a man or a woman in that 'Mech. You are either an ally or an enemy.

That being said, if we can't get the 'Betty' voice from MW2, then can we hire George Ledoux?

Piranha, I just wanted to say thanks for writing mech reveals with realistic female characters. Women are far too often used as sex objects in video games and it's refreshing to see a developer who is willing to identify a character more with their profession and actions than their gender. In each mech reveal short that has a female protagonist (almost all of them, I think) the focus is on the pilots's skills, her mech, and her thoughts as a mechwarrior. I want you guys to know that as a feminist I appreciate what you've done thusfar and look forward to more well written characters (of either gender) in your game.

So basically you are thanking the genre for being true to itself. They aren't romance novels, tabloids, or quasi-news. They are battletech novels. From there the fluff is drawn. It is just sticking to business and understanding techne. I too am glad they are doing this, but to see it as an opportunity to inject an -ism into the conversation just absolutely begs a counterpoint. Ism's are only fractions of populations, not containers of them.

Females were always treated like equals in the books and lore, at least from what I've seen.

Now, the majority of the pictures of said females associated with Battletech are a totally different thing :P

Missiles don't care if its a man or woman pulling a trigger, and its a far more balanced world when the machines are doing the lifting.

While not a utopia, the Inner Sphere and Clans represent a far more physically balanced epoch of humanity, where divisions are more political than racial or sexual in nature, because the human toolbox is so much broader. Its like Texas, without the cotillions, everyone's armed and angry and on one of many sides, by choice, more so than by birth. Suffice to say that in futuristic situations where technology enables us to be more than we are physically, those gender and racial difference become much less prevalent in our minds, and most good Scifi writers know that.

Its not feminism, its an acknowledgment that given the proper tools, anyone, can be anything and be really good at it. The respect generated and appreciated by those characters, created by writers, reflects this, much to their credit.

Create a character?! Yes. Play a character of a different gender while trying to be as realistic as possible? Akwaaaaard ...

Awkward? Only if you misrepresent yourself.

As a writer, I have to write women as part of what I write. I HAVE to be as realistic as possible, for it to be believable.

I'm also a roleplayer. I typically write women, because I view roleplay as interactive fiction.

Anyway.

One of my favorite female mech pilots has to be Rhonda Snord.

She'd strap external speakers to her Highlander and blare Elvis into combat.

I want that ability >.>

I'm hoping we get some level of customizing our mechwarriors' looks and a lounge to hang out in between matches as part of the metagame.

There is a danger that being politically correct can cause unwanted factionalism in an attempt to rid sexism from Battletech.
