Do you respawn like in dropship mode with another mech from your bay?

Are you stuck in observer mode?

Can you drop out of battle and play in a new match in another mech from your mech bay?

I really hope we don't get stuck in observer mode as time is precious.

Wife...check
Kid.....check

Time to sit around.........not so much

I suspect you will be able to drop and start another game with another 'mech. purchasing a second 'mech may be a big priority for many people.

This is the only way to grind credits in WoT. Play a match die, roll a new tank. So perhaps we will be using a similar strategy in MWO, HOWEVER, you only get 1 starter mech right? In WoT people start with 5 tanks to begin.

So you may be locked into 1 match at a go for a while.

Yes, it should have a very simliar battle system to WoT. This whole forum smells of WoT. I just hope they won't take the bad parts from that game too.

And please don't make those heavy mechs too expensive.

If it's not in the ask the devs Q&A, then we don't know.

I really hope there is no respawn. Maybe a spectator mode from your own team, but not more.
You loose your mech, deal with it.

agreed. Also having people drop from one match to join another when they die should theoretically reduce Que times significantly.

I hope they dont do WoT nonsense...i really hatted that thing. If you would end up stuck after death in the match, that would make people think more, use tactics and stuffs

Wouldnt the game have "rounds" as in everyone has 1 life, when you die you go to spectator mode and when one team has won the next round begins? Repeat till a set number has begun and a new map is loaded or something?

Yea as of right now when you die all you can do is wait or exit match. I'm waiting to see how the Launch version handles death and the next "round" of sorts

This assumes you will play the same people in the next round. Lets hope not.

I disagree. I believe it will make them quit and play a different game where they are not stuck waiting for 15 min for making a mistake. Since players quitting is not something the Devs want, I don't believe it will work that way.

How about you come back on foot and can run around shooting mechs with your pistol/sidearm. In your underpants.
Seriously - Anything is better than observer mode.

There needs to be a penalty for getting destroyed, the real question is should that penalty be time, or financially? I don't like the idea of financially penalizing players since that discourages losing teams as opposed to someone who went derp and just chearged in.

If I remember right it is;

Death = wait/spectator mode, repair bill, xp at end of match.
Exit = bad, no XP for leaving, and gaining repair bill.

I believe it was an interview that covered it (will look) ;) (i'm sick, can't sleep anyway)

Edit, found in Q&A 3.....

[DAVID] There will be no free roaming spectator mode. Dead players will likely see their destroyed ’Mech for a few seconds and then be able to cycle through the viewpoints of their living allies.

[BRYAN] We’re very aware and concerned about spectator mode giving teams using Teamspeak like communications and advantage. More than likely we only allow spectators to view what the current target view (pilot) can see.

There are a couple of "likely"s in there so I guess it isn't writen in stone yet lol

Edit 2. found in Q&A 2

[MATT C] No special concessions can be made for disconnects or severe lag, if a team loses a match due to these factors then it’s just bad luck. Anything we could add to detect these conditions and declare the match void opens the door to worse exploits where players purposefully disconnect to void match results when they are losing. These situations are very hard to deal with as a disconnect from lag looks identical to an intentional cable pull. All players in a match when it ends will get the match rewards, disconnected players will not gain any progression as rewards are handed out at the end of a match.

So XP is at end of match, exit = bad

Although that was dec of 11 so they might have changed it, but probably not

The answer to this has not been given ... but given thier comments of liking how certain other games do things I would assume you have 2 options on death:

1) Loiter on the battlefield as a ghost ... I'd prefer a 3rd person view for this. To really contrast the feel of it.

2) To return to the mechbay and join another match. (It has yet to be confirmed also if your mech will be locked until the end of the battle ala WoT or if you can just join a new fight.)

don't encourage wot play style please. careless players should be forced the view their surviving teammates to learn how to stay alive.

My guess is that you have to sit there and think about what you've done.

As far as I can recall, I remember the developers saying that there were two modes they were experimenting with: one where you have only one life and one where you have three mechs and when you die you can hotdrop a new mech down to the battlefield (I honestly can't remember the source for this, so don't quote me on that). My hope is that matches won't take too long or this might be an issue.

Bring a book and put it next to your PC, and then read it when you die. It's what I'll do if I can't just quit and join a new game.
