I'm not likely to pay $100+ for Win 7 to play a game when my other games run on XP.
No I won't buy a gray market copy nor will I just torrent a free copy.
A proper legit copy of Win7 is not cheap.
Come on isn't XP old now? I have a tower with Vista on it, it must be about 3 years old, current laptop a year old with Windows 7.
I have a computer that I bought about 6 years ago with XP on it, just before the next windows come along, bad buy. But 6 years, long time. I would not expect them to create a game right now to play on it.
Move forward with a 3-4 year span I say.

You would need to be mentally ill to spend money on anything you can't make use of.
Look at it this way, you have more time to focus on study and thus get an even better job to ensure a nice Alienware will be in your hands one day

Although, I have to admit, I'm pretty broken-hearted about the delay of the Community Warfare element. To me, the concept of fighting for my faction over the worlds of the Inner Sphere is more core to the experience to me than even things like the 'Mechlab.
I understand it's a daunting undertaking, and previous Battletech games have tried it with varying degrees of success in the past, but I hope you understand that for many of us, that's the whole ballgame. While I would certainly enjoy pounding away at my enemies, the greater context of the battle, and what is at stake in that battle, is what makes it a fulfilling experience for a player like me. I absolutely believe you intend to complete it, I just hope that it's something that doesn't turn into a year-long wait.
That being said, my Founder's Pack order will still be in right when the 'ol paycheck clears!

He is correct though when he says it'll give us a chance to get familiar with our rides and game mechanics. Better to have those like a second skin when we jump into metagame mechanics.

I wish. Grad school is a money drain. The main thing that bugs me is that I was really looking forward to this and was going to buy a Founders package because it's such a good deal. By the time I get out of here I'll be lucky if this game is still around honestly. I still got a good 4 years to go. My computer isn't THAT crappy, I mean yeah it's a laptop but as long as I can disable particle effects I've not run into a game yet I couldn't play (my video card doesn't handle them well at all.) Until this one at least.

Well the higher end HD 4XXX are more powerful than the lower end HD 5XXX.
A 4890 is roughly equivalent to a 5830 for example, only it lacks dx11 support and tends to run a little hotter.
Also im having a hard time believing that a game built on cryengine 3, an engine designed with consoles in mind, would be amazingly demanding.
It will actually be interesting however if this game actualy makes use of more than 2 cores, since a lot of mmos right now only use 2 cores and people with quad cores complain about it.

That's definitely true, I guess I just am experiencing flashbacks to another Battletech game, from the '90s called Multi-Player Battletech: Solaris. We spent, quite literally, years waiting for the strategic shell to be released, only to have the game go on 'indefinite suspension'. It later was turned into MPBT: 3025 when the company that made it was bought by EA, but it was canned before it ever got out of Open Beta.
I trust this game will have a much better fate, but I still felt that pang of disappointment when I read that.
