I play Mechwarrior for about an hour or two a day and everyday I lose nearly 75% of my games. I get up to 6 losses in a row then 1 win if I'm lucky and the cycle happens again (Not 75% its just an example). I would say I'm an average skill player who gets at least or kill or two a game or high damage so I kind of feel its not my fault. Everygame there is one afk player or some guy who disconnects or a spider which dies within the first 10 seconds. I'm worried due to how {Scrap} the elo system, why base a player of wins/losses in a team game? It should be based on how the player plays their role such as a light mech providing targets for the team but this idea is of it being based off Wins/losses is awful. Elo was suppose to be used in games like chess where its 1 v 1 that is when you calculate someone skill through Wins/Losses but the idea of doing in a team game is rubbish. I've spent quite a bit of money on this game and I don't want to be stuck with bad players and afk farmers due to the elo bracket and have to make a smurf account. All I want is a 50/50 win rate at least but if this keeps happening then I'm going to get no where.

On the odd side of days I find myself on a roll of victory's. This is rare, perhaps the universe will go into negative vacuum? Don't know, don't care! So far today i've ground out a total of 5.6m cbills!

How many matches have you played in total?

Were most of them as part of a premade? Or were they mostly as a PUG?

Matchmaker gets better over time. You should be trending towards 50%. Takes a long time though.

You definitely get screwed if you take a break. When you come back, it must think you are as good as when you left.

Also, I ended up switching to Conquest mode only. It's easier to find action, you're not usually running into 12 players, and with enough skill you can rack up more XP and C-Bills for a loss then you get for a win.

I also only play assult really. Is there more chance to win in conquest? Reason I'm making a big deal about wins is elo. If it wasn't effected by elo then I wouldn't care but so far it seems I'll be stuck on elo hell and end up packing this game in due to bad deisgn of matchamaking....Who in charge of that on the team?

If you pug thats pretty normal. I know some will come in and say they win big. Except they you see them on the feild and that fantasy evaporates quickly. No one can survive under fast called coordinated fire. Past that you type you die so most matches have little or no communication.
Just get used to losing a lot and waiting for good matches. Somedays its good but most its bad.

To increase your odds of winning, you need to be in an organized 4 man, because your at the mercy of the matchmaker (which is horribly broken). I'm not surprised to see you losing that much. Its a team game. So if you want to be halfway successful, find people to play with.

Not till they fix the system I'll get used to it.

Playing in 4's is literally the only thing you can do to mitigate losses. Get on one of the public TS3's or join a team.

Then download TeamSpeak, go to NGNGs server and make some new ones.

In no time, you'll have Mudhutwarrior railing against you as an "Evil Premade"

All PGI have to do is what games like Dota does. Have a solo only button.

Shhhh, Mudhut will report you for providing exploit information. Unless the VoIP is integrated, its cheating.

Yes, it would be nice, but this game doesn't have the player base to split the queue like that, not yet anyway.

The solution to winning more than you lose in PUGs while solo is to carry harder.

Why people state fact that Elo was initially made to score players in chess, but forget the fact that it has found application in team sports and video games where it also works.
Oh and yes W/L is the single most important stat to use in a rating. Especially in this game. All the other stats are a really bad idea to adjust values from.

I happens. It's got nothing to do with grouping either, some of it's just unfortunately timing, Elo bands and bad luck. With the BLR - 1G 'can't turn enough to cover my CT' Battlemaster I have 35 matches and 11 wins. That's 0.46. It's so bad it's actually brought my total win/loss rate down and I have something close to 4k drops and was at a 1.69, now down to a 1.67.

It's painful.

The best solution IMO is splitting grouped from pug Elo. When you pug you track one Elo, when you group you track another. This lets you pug at your solo skill (and your skill in solo builds) and when you group you drop at your grouped skill (and proficiency with builds catering to grouping).

Better for everyone.

44% win and 56% loss is probably within the margin of error. The ideal for a matchmaker is 50%
