You misunderstand, I don't mean new players, or Lone Wolves, I mean Mudhut specifically.

One man army to distance any new player. Good job!

LOL, as usual, you're mistaken.

I'm all for new players, I welcome them and wish them well.

It's your stubborn "There are no Voice Coms unless PGI provides them and anyone who groups is evil" mantra that does a greater disservice to new players than any "PUGstomping" you perceive takes place.

I play Mechwarrior for about an hour or two a day and everyday I lose nearly 75% of my games. I get up to 6 losses in a row then 1 win if I'm lucky and the cycle happens again (Not 75% its just an example). I would say I'm an average skill player who gets at least or kill or two a game or high damage so I kind of feel its not my fault. Everygame there is one afk player or some guy who disconnects or a spider which dies within the first 10 seconds. I'm worried due to how {Scrap} the elo system, why base a player of wins/losses in a team game? It should be based on how the player plays their role such as a light mech providing targets for the team but this idea is of it being based off Wins/losses is awful. Elo was suppose to be used in games like chess where its 1 v 1 that is when you calculate someone skill through Wins/Losses but the idea of doing in a team game is rubbish. I've spent quite a bit of money on this game and I don't want to be stuck with bad players and afk farmers due to the elo bracket and have to make a smurf account. All I want is a 50/50 win rate at least but if this keeps happening then I'm going to get no where.

This is why you get a VOIP like TeamSpeak, log into Comstar NA (or EU, or NGNG) and you make yourself some friends on those channels. Unlike pugs, they are actually serious enough to utilize team-based tactics, which is how you win in this game. (you'll never win with a team of charging ***** pugs who think they are a one-man-army unto themselves.)

Just because you do some damage and maybe get some kills does not mean you're doing your own job to help the team actually win. Even without comms there's a gap between working with the team and running off playing Rambo. Do you watch for base caps? Do you hide and wait for someone else to get someone near dead before popping out to try to snag a kill-shot? Do you stick with your team and try to focus fire, or wander off to do your own thing, maybe attempting to sneak around the edge in an assault to ninja the base at 54kph? Maybe, just maybe, you're the problem, and you need to look at how you're playing.

BTW, 44/56 does not support your claim of 5-6 losses for every win.

First of that is not the wins since the launch of elo. I'm talking about my mechwarrior experience from the past couple of months. And yes I think I do the right things. Always stick with team if I'm a light I watch out for base caps, the point is how can I keep having that bad of losing streak every night. Even if I was the worst player in the world I would still have wins from some games at least just from other players carrying the team. I have spiders who die within the first minute so thats just a quick snapshot of the playerbase I'm now with.

The game is getting very boring having to deal with loss after loss in pugs.
Even if i'm in my JM6-S and take out a few enemy and do 1000+ damage before i get killed my team end up getting slaughtered in minutes and i constantly have the highest match score and damage, but we lose. You can only carry the team so far.
When i'm with my wife and we take out half the enemy our team still manages to lose!
If i'm in a light capping, my team get killed. If i'm in a bigger mech fighting the enemy we lose to caps.

Of course the terrible builds (i cry when i see a JM6 with MG's and PPC's) and players doing basically nothing in 3pv doesn't help ;)

Yea, I'm having the same problems. If I play closer to the night, then everything seems ok, but when I play at the other time - I just can't win any match and losing many matches in a row. I don't know, what is the problem: am I always placed into completely noobish team, cuz system thinks I'm very good player or may be the problem is in large amount of premades playing this time. But our team is always being stomped without any chances. If problem is in system, that always puts me into worse team, thinking I'll improve it, then I just don't want it! Make the choice completely random: then I'll have a fair 50% chance to get a better party - not 100% chance to get bad party, cuz I'm a good player. One player just can't do anything. And if problem is in premades, then...just simply separate them into another queue. I heard many stories about F2P games where players, who are playing for free are just meat for paying customers. But not in this game. My Firebrand or Boar's head won't allow me to roflstomp premades. So I can't escape being a meat for premades even via money. So the only option - is to quit and put my money into another game.

Complaining about the matchmaker is like complaining that the other football teams are too tough to beat and that makes it unfair.

Playing against people better than you is the only way to get better.

When the day comes that you have played enough matched (of anything, ever, ever) then you will understand this post fully and laugh.

I'm not complaining that the other team are better. I'm complaining that my team are much, much worse.

It doesn't make sense, cuz you can't beat other team alone. In 8 vs 8 your contribution to a victory was more significant, but not now, cuz 12 vs 12 allows enemies to use "crush via quantity" tactic, which you just can't counter by your skill, cuz you can't fight against 2-3 mechs. So when your team constantly fails to react to enemies actions, leaving you alone against them, you have no choice, except die fast. So this are the three simple rules, that every gamedev should know: 1) PUGs will never beat premades 2) Only RNG is fair 3) More players =/= more epic, more players = more mess.

In such a cases you are always told to find/bring friends and form a premade by yourself. But there is a thing, that many players and even some game developers are failing to realize: there are things in your life, you have no power to change - the country, you've born in, your skin color, your parents and also number of time, you can invest into games, your skill and amount of friends, you have in game. And that using such a things as restrictions sounds like discrimination. I can understand forcing to be social in MMORPGs, as unavoidable evil. But this game is not even MMORPG - it's session-based game. And if session-based game fails to provide "plug-and-play" gaming experience, that this game won't live long.

After the Phoenix patch i had lost around ~20 matches more than won and a few days later i have ~30 more won than lost.
You have good and bad luck, at some hours the gameplay is better than on others depending on what the taste of Players at that time favour to play and how compared to what you like.
I prefer the Asiatic/Ozeanic and European Primetimes and the American Off-time the most though i play when i have time and like to do so...

I think this issue is more to do with a sense of loss rather than actually losing. Sometimes you can have a bad match and still win, but it feels like a loss. And some losses are worst than others. When you don't know why you lost, you don't have chance to learn anything. It is like losing twice.

It seems to be only at night everything goes downhill. Maybe its the players from different timezones or something but at night is when it all goes to hell.

I think I've played enough matches for the matchmaker they said about originally in the forum posts for the system to put me in a balanced match. But when it comes to crazy loss streaks everynight then something is wrong.

Reason I'm getting annoyed at losing is due to the elo system. I wouldn't care about losing if not as I would always know that I won't be matched with lower skill players if I lose.

And where do you live?

If it is na prime time you are having problems with then either all the good people log on and so it gets harder, or I guess bad people might log on too? But then you could carry harder...hmmm

Well fortunately for me, even when I solo if I do actually get a game I usually win. I guess matchmaker gives me all the good teams! Oh wait....no I do not think that is then case :/ not at all :/

I dont know what these guys see but I see stomps from both sides and they are boring either way. They cry for compettion then do anything to stop that from happening except for themselves. I have five or six who think its a mission here to badmouth anything I post. That is the character of the game now. Toe the line or get out.

Good luck attracting new players never mind retaining them. Soon you will run out of meat for the mill. When that happens who will you attack then?

People have been saying this for years.

Time has proven them to be wrong. And I fear, so are you.

I've played a long time, I'm fairly even.

Win/Loss 1,866 / 1,667

What I've noticed however is that when I run solo without my friends on I win usually 25-30% maybe of the matches. I think its due to a high ELO, and it automatically puts me up against a premade. I went 2-9 last night...

I guess you're right, the higher you go the more premades there are. And they are all better players too. You probably just aren't good enough of a solo player to hold your own at the Elo ranks you have achieved while premading.

It does seem odd that whether you are on the winning or losing side its 90% of the time 12 to 2.
