Does 3Pv Stink On Purpose?

Is 3pv actually supposed to be used in combat> ? is it working as intended.?
Is this pgi/s best effort >
?
I ask, because i cant see how you are supposed to use 3pv if your xhairs jump and twitch all over the place.
Now i dont USE 3pv in game for combat, just once in a while to look at my mech, but it sure seems to be a broken mechanic.
I m fine if it was designed to b low, If it was designed to be viable sans arm lock and hud, how can 3pv considered anything but a joke?

The real truth is it isn't supposed to be good, it's supposed to help players understand how to move. When they get good enough, they should switch to first person.

No.

Sure, why not. I have no idea though, because I don't use it.

No, their best effort was when they were adamant about leaving the game 1pv.

It's supposed to help new players understand movement, which imo, is a cop-out. Better tutorials would have done a much better job of that and we could have skipped 3pv development altogether. 3pv was added on the false premise that it would draw in more new players. Since that assumption was false, and 3pv implementation - or so I hear - doesn't do anything for combat, the whole thing was basically a waste of development resources and time.

The same 3 people talking about 3PV over and over again.
I guess this is today's "I AM OUTRAGED" thread. Do you guys have some sort of rotation to determine who gets to post the daily 3PV thread?

And then, make selectable options for the difficulty you want when joining matches. Voila, PGI could have avoided all the hoopla over it.

And it totally fails to achieve that end.
It gives new players the impression that 3PV is how the game is meant to be played, and they don't know how to turn it off, and they are totally crippled in combat compared to other players.
And then they quit and uninstall.

But other than that it's useless in combat. I'll use it if I'm capping on a base and want a wider angle of view to keep lights from sneaking up on me but other than that it's useless except to check out your paint job. It does nothing to help with what it was originally designed for (yet another reason it should just be done away with) but you have the option to toggle it off so it's not a hindrance. If they would have split the queues like they originally planned I don't think you'd ever see another complaint about it.

If you EVER use that sentence in regards to this game you should be flogged.

According to PGI, no. They want you to switch back into 1PV during combat.
mekabuser, on 22 November 2013 - 07:25 AM, said:
Depends on what you think the intended purpose is. PGI states that the purpose is to help new players understand the relationship between the facing of their legs and torso, thus keeping them from quitting out of frustration. But only PGI knows for sure if it is actually working.
mekabuser, on 22 November 2013 - 07:25 AM, said:
Hardly. PGI made a lot of compromises do to a small group of players who vocally feared it to be OP. I just don't agree with most of the compromises they made.

Now, the general consensus is that GH is the worst idea ever but I think they will surprise us again.

Not only was it a waste of time and resources but created a riot when the promised queue splitting wasn't there.
