I've seen a few players with vision related conditions complain about the night and thermal vision modes so that one I could MAYBE understand but why suggest just the night time version of a map be removed while leaving its daytime counterpart?

Most games on it go like this. Because of 750m vision range nobody wants to blunder into an ambush, so upper team goes upper, lower team goes lower, caprace. Those who try to return and stall caps get quickly destroyed by focused fire, and the game outcome is determined by which team has more capture accelerators.
Still fun in conquest, so voted no.

The map itself is fine, I just dont like the alternate vision modes thats all.
The worst map in my opinion is what I call the magma level. I just dont like that one at all, it's pure luck if you are not using a heat heavy mech at the time and it's no fun for slow mechs.

That's a totally different issue though. I wonder if they've come up with some alternatives because I know some color blind players are screwed sometimes

Besides, removing it would (insert creeping feeling of dooooom) increase the odds of getting Mordor-ahem-Terra Therma in a match. I am yet to find a fan of that map (though the hate isn't universal), why do you want to inflict it on more people???

And the map is large enough that speed matters

River City night should stay though. I love night fighting, and city fighting. We need more of both.

These maps have the most exciting brawling and consequently the most clutch and difficult sniping. Night time in River City only makes the map more chaotic and interesting.
The night in River City and the huge extra heat in some parts of Therra Therma are actually the only map elements that provide unique conditions pilots need to adapt to. We need more of that

Because it small: dont have to walk that much beetween caps. You still have a lot of cover...
People i know who hate that map are light pilots that play objective

One being RC in general is a terrible map in terms of size and map layout.
The second is the lightning in general makes zero sense at all, and doesn't make sense (why is it brighter further away than point blank? Why is there no ambient light being given off by all the city lights and fire?!)
Should it be removed? Nah
Should it be reworked significantly? Hells yes.

people of skill can handle it, just like terra therma, the only problem with that map is players always going for the center even though it's choke points of doom. but it's worse to go flanking on your own so you have to hold peoples hands and pay the price for it, a sacrifice can keep people alive enough to win sometimes. yes you have many sacrifices at mtdoom.
so yeah don't get rid of a map because it's beyond comprehension and skills of a few players, they need to learn that teams will not always meatshield for them so they can pick off enemies in the back.
