If it's a new mech/chassis, it'll be released mid-Feb (all "new mechs" have been released as such). Hero mech would be on schedule for early Feb.

I think it's just a "buffer" for the Saber Pack mechs that are scheduled. There's two mechs to be filled before the release of the Clan Pack... so that would be the first of two.

Feb 4 will be an unannounced Hero light. One assumes that Feb 18 will see the c-bill versions.

I'm half expecting to see a Mongoose (25t ComGuard mech).

It was Russ, and he said it would be a previously-unannounced light, that might be controversial.

I've put my doubting in another thread, and I'll put it here too. To the best of my knowledge, the only people who have said it's going to be a light mech are players, not devs. Has a controversial light mech been mentioned? Yes, in a separate interview, by a different dev. Yes, that was even mentioned in this recent interview, but it is stated that he isn't sure it's the same thing. All we know for certain is a hero mech for a new, unannounced chassis is supposed to drop feb 4th. I'll agree that it's probably a light, but so far all I've seen is player speculation, not dev confirmation.

Why do I do this? Because I remember the forumsplosion when we got the Quickdraw, and everyone thought we were getting the Orion.

Edit: Russ' twitter seems to confirm it as a new light as of 1/23/14. Cheers!

From Peiper's http://mwomercs.com/...5-january-2014/

Quote

What should we expect Feb. 4th? Russ hints about a new mech, a NEW hero mech, NEW chassis. (It's NOT the Panther.) It's not a Phoenix mech.

Feb 4th, a new hero mech, of a new chassis. I too, am interested as to where the devs have confirmed it is a light. (Note: I love lights and wouldn't by all means mind having a new one. If there is confirmation, please do share, very interested.)

As for the title question, two weeks ago we got Grid Iron, today we are getting C-bill Battlemasters. In two weeks, Feb 4th, we'll be getting this unkown hero mech. Judging by the way these updates have worked since the launch, the next C-bill variant - presumably the chassis of the forthcoming mystery hero - will be made available 2 weeks after that, Feb 18th.

I fail to see any indication that PGI would suddenly deliver a chassis off the biweekly schedule. I think it's pretty safe to say that no, we won't be getting a new hero or a new chassis on 28th. 28th patch is likely just an end of sale patch, with luck some minor bug fixes as a major highlight.

They're just repeating what they did with the Heavy Metal and Dragonslayer, hero before regular variants.

I think @ 4th we get the hero of a new light chassis. MC versions enabled enabled @ 11. 18th Feb for the cbill variants, and then we also get the Wolvie or the Griffin for cbills.

why so excited about the urbie? that thing is slower than an Atlas... unless PGI gives it very high max ratings for the engine that mech won´t be much more than a collectors item without any ingame value

as for what we´ll get on Feb. 4th... dunno, i´m open for anything

That would fit their established pattern but the trouble is that the Griffin is scheduled to come out on the 18th.

I'd be very surprised to see two chassis' being released on the same day. From a business stand point it wouldn't make much sense unless they believe that everyone that wants a Griffin brought the saber package.

The Urban mech is impossible with their current engine weight set up, as the default engine would weigh a negative amount of tonnage...

Maybe they finally caved and decided to make up some wolfhound versions.. =P

Then again i´d like to see the Urbie... I need some easy kills too. =P
