So, it's official and confirmed by Russ Bullock himself, no more groups in the solo queue:

Quote

Bhael Fire@Bhael_Fire 1 Std.
@russ_bullock There seems to be some confusion on the forums; are groups 2-4 in the solo queue currently?
Russ Bullock@russ_bullock 37 Min.
@Bhael_Fire no there not

Russ Bullock@russ_bullock
@Bhael_Fire likely long term as it creates a great solo queue and also helps dramatically for weight times in group queue

So, now I hope y'all can stop the bitchin' about the evil premades and play in underhive if you so like.
To all the 2 man groups that feel let down because you (feel you) can't compete, do it like we did in closed beta; enter one of the many open TS Servers and group up with more likeminded people, they aren't hard to find and joining a unit is not necessary for that. Most of us are very welcoming to new and unexperienced players, and having some beers and banter going back and forth is part of the awesomeness of this community.

Any word on solo players being able to opt into group queue? That's what I want.

That would be great if kept at 1-2 solo players on each team.

Well crap. Husband and I really enjoyed playing together in the solo queue... not sure we'll enjoy it as much getting thrown in with big groups.

Tell them you're there, learn to work with other groups. It's a more challenging but much, much more rewarding gaming experience.

I'm glad there is a PUG only queue now. It is how it should have been a long time ago. Until they implement VOIP directly into the game, let the PUGs play alone. It might still be random who you get on a team... but your chances of being able to carry are a lot more when there is disorganized chaos.

I agree with Terciel, but I completely understand Agro's disappointment. Playing casually with a bunch of casual solo players should still exist IMO. All of the uber competitive players drop in group queue and it might not satisfy the casual gameplay that Argo and hubby enjoy.

Wouldn't it be easier to just join a group? lol

So it is permanent? That is good news that the group population can now support itself. With luck it will continue to increase the overall populations.

This next patch on the 15th will address that; MM will try to match smaller groups with other smaller groups...and better Elo matching.

According to Russ, yes...it's a long-term arrangement with no current plans to allow groups back into the solo queue.

Now if they could just address sync dropping ......

Oh and weight is wait ! unless he really is talking about weight then it really does not make much sense unless he means the time it takes to get all the weights in a team!

Ill be interested to see how this goes, but I am uncertain it will prevent steamroll matches. Sometimes one team is just that much better than another team.

Again, as a PUG player myself, it will be interesting to see.

???

Um...any group wanting to 'sync' can just group up into a larger group. Done.

When the solo queue included groups, it was limited to 1 per team...so sync drops FACED each other.

How was this NOT addressed, again?

Sync-dropping?

There's no reason to; you can launch in any group size you want now (except for 11).

And trying to sync-drop into the solo queue is laughably futile. I mean, sure you can hang out on TS with a bunch of people and hope you get match up together in the solo queue....but...yeah. Waste of time.

I won't stop bitching because I as a solo player want to drop with the groups damn it!

Of course? And preferable in every way. And I have. But sometimes nobody's on. In those cases, I know how to work with the group and would vastly prefer to drop into the infinitely more interesting and tactial group queue. I've been playing some in the solo queue at those times and it's, well, Derp City. Easy to get kills and farm c-bills, but really boring, shallow game play.

Oh, please. People who are afraid of premades won't let facts dissuade them. :P

Hey I'm not against it...in fact I suggested they have a Solo Only queue and Groups+Solo queue (for solo players that opt in).

It's just after thinking about, when I'm in a group...I hate having to deal with the solo players on my team.

I hear you, but I'll make that trade vs. ever having to play in solo queue.

No premade groups? By the letter of the law, yes. Sync drops? Oh lawdy! That's now Sooooooooooo easy! 5+ friends solo sync drop together they will end up in a match maybe on one side, maybe on both, maybe only some of them. Tada... "ebil premade in teh Solo Kew".

Lather rinse repeat and PGI can't stop it because they are obeying the rules.

This is an example of how this can happen and what it can look like. It's an older video, but this has happened, and The B33f got it on video. Warning Language.
