The Battle of Tukayyid is going to leave me (more) mentally scarred.

I've managed two drops after 20 minute waits. But both times I've dropped with teams that have lost 32 of their Mechs within the first eight minutes!

Then there's me and maybe three other pilots left on my side trying to win a battle against 3:1 odds.

After we've lost, I look at the end match screen and I see players who have done less than 100 damage across four Mechs. (How is that even possible?!) I see half the team has done less than 100 damage per Mech.

What is this I don't even...

At time of writing, Clans have 70% of the contested zones. I'm surprised it's not 100%.

I think you may be right that some people are approaching it that way.

What a shame. This event could have been interesting.

And this is why we can't have nice things.

Well, I just had a match where only 3 players were "non contributors" ... 9 of us were trying and carried the victory.

I almost wept from the sheer joy of being able to play the battle the way it was intended, in the company of good MechWarriors who wanted to win and worked together to do so.

Back to 9 players who couldn't do 600 damage across 4 Mechs, won't group up, and are just throwing themselves into the enemy guns.

But I realised the problem. And it's MY problem.

I have to stop wanting a team that will take the match seriously. Buddhism teaches us that desire is the root of all unhappiness. If I stop wanting a decent team/match, then I will stop being disappointed when I don't get one.

I may even be pleased when I do get one... or does stopping wanting a good match/team also lead to stopping the happiness of actually getting one...? I'm not sure what Buddha had to say about the flipside.

Anyway, I think this is the secret to this event. Just stop caring.

I feel better already!

Yeah, I had 30 minutes of going up the queue and dropping back, which I found quite frustrating prior to my deciding to become Buddhist about this event.

Buddah would say that the queue is part of the game. Where a warrior quiets his mind and focuses his chi in preparation for the coming conflict. Even Baby Jesus would agree.

This queue system is beyond a joke constant knocking back and we ended up splitting up into single matches which are totally !@$$#% as mentioned above.

1. People leave queues for numerous reasons. Wife nagging, children needing 5 min trip to the store, etc. Also people leave queues to form up a group with friends or unit or faction.

2. Some people do get low damage outputs. Many don't carry large lasers, therefore they would normally die before they get more than a shot off as the Clan weaponry far outrange their IS counterparts. Another reason is spawn-camping: when they drop off their dropships they get blown to pieces right away. Another reason I can think of is how many people bring LRMs without having a deal with someone else who can tag prior to the match: you just won't be able to get a shot off because there won't be any targets for you to train your reticle at when each enemy wave contains 2 or 3 ECM Hellbringers. I am sure there are many other reasons.

3. However, had these people formed or joined a unit, they would know all this. They would know not to run solo and poke, they would know to stay as a group. Unfortunately, the majority of the players (see the queue numbers) are pubs and will always be pubs, and CW needs to prioritize their experience as they play without any support unlike members of a Unit. If PGI's ambition is to release the game on Steam, then this attention to premades is going to be game breaking. If you (PGI) haven't realized how bad the situation is, disable 12-man groups and let people only be able to form 4-men or 8-man groups and see the results yourselves.

Appogee, the call was put out for Marik pilots to join the FWLM website (www.housemarik.enjin.com) for this event. If you had been running with us as a premade almost all of these problems would have been non-existent for you.

I didn't get that memo. (Was there a memo?) But thank you I will check out the site and try to group up.

But will this mean I have to start caring again? ;-)

Care leads to desire. Desire leads to disappointment. Disappointment leads to posts in the forum.

Joining a premade is a temporary stop-gap measure though. Imagine if everybody were premades, the 35-50 12-man groups would now instead of 12-man pugs they are now 12-man premades. The long queue will still be a long queue, except now there are no queue jumpers.

No marik pilot should be dropping with random pugs. Join us on the house team speak.

This applies to ALL players, clan and IS.
I was in a match vs the 12th Donegal earlier, we had two solos on our pug team that did nothing but whine and cry about premades. their language was foul as was their attitude. I even felt the need to apologise on their behalf such was the shame they generated.
I asked them if they had thought of using any of the clan TS servers or the Stranamechty one-nope they didn't want to. Apparently it's all PGI's fault they are lonewolf anti socials. It's not their own fault in anyway shape or form is it.
If they would have whined less and fought harder....I still managed 5 kills and 235 match score.
WHEN will people learn MWO is NOT a solo game?

Wait, you didn't already know this? This is the stragegy employed by all long-term MWO players.

The truely happy among them take it a step farther - expect nothing good from PGI, and then you'll be overcome with joy when 1 in 20 things they do works out in a good way.

Begs the question as to why there is a solo queue then, doesn't it.

But anyway, teaming up is certainly a competitive advantage in this game.
