Hopped in my MechLab once I saw the server was up to take a look at the Cicadas, and I must say I am very pleased with how they came out. Took some screenshots showing weapons placement for them all, which y'all can see here.

My personal favorite is the location of the 3C's ERPPC, they strapped it on above the cockpit like this thing wasn't a peek machine before.

I saw that. Yeah, the PPCs are a bit too small on the Awesome. We might get PGI to fix that sooner or later.

But i like what they have done on the Cicada very much, and that is what this tread is about.

Ya i like the PPCs on the cicada alot, they did a good job.

The 2C absolutely got a performance boost. I won't argue that. Probably not enough to make it a viable mech yet (IT'd need one more energy slot to have a hope of that, ideally left torso like that. ). The problem is that it no longer looks like a 2C should! Some of us love the actual mech design, and moving the 'signature' weapon up that high like that is no different than moving the AC20 on an Atlas to the Arm or shoulder. It's not the same mech anymore!

Meanwhile, the 3M got butchered by the asymetrical Beam Points. The one on the right torso should be up high, in the same place as the one on the left torso. I personally run either two SL or MLs in the center slot, but the 3 ERLL/LL build will be stupid with the offcenter there. It'll make it very hard to use cover to deliver full beam volleys.

The 2A and 2B will be interesting. Though the 2B will have the non-centered middle beam issue as well.

X5 will be interesting, not a missile user at all, but it will add some variety for sure. Gonna depend a lot on if the 'wing' mounts end up high or low. Because before now it was an EXCELLENT hill humper due to the high energy shots. It does look nice though.

I think the lopsided 3M is a bit odd and the 3C looks wonky, but the 2B (my baby), 2A and X-5 all look great.

Many times, the torso "should" have enough space to fit all the missiles (see Victor-9S, or even Atlas-S), but they didn't bother.

Occasionally, they get special racks... like what the Griffin-3M gets on its expanded missile torso.

It's situational, depending on the space involved.

I'm more than happy with all of them! The 3M ballistic looks SO much better now. And I'm with you, my lil' 2B "Wubninja" looks amazing now.

Did they really just **** up the 3m like that?? What ******* thought it was good to have the other energy hardpoint lower than the other!

My bad, didn't notice the arms energy slots were still empty. Album will be updated shortly (I'll put in PPCs to make them really pop).

EDIT: Okay, it's up there now, final image in the album. Looks like the mounts are just a touch higher than the torso energy points.

Like the look so far, AC10 and 20 could maybe look a tad more impressive, more lethal somehow.

Aside of that i play around with my 3M and i really have no clue where to go bcs a setup should not only work it should be fun to play also and i do still search the fun...currently i only have it bcs its a Medium with ECM and i hate the U/AC bcs it jams allways in the wrong moment!

The 3M has a ballistic? I always assumed that was a rendering bug.
