Welcome to Taro's theorycraft thread! In this post I list mechs that are NOT in MWO yet, and talk about their variants, their hardpoints, and what they would be like in MWO, particularly by providing exact builds.

For battlemechs, I generally try to provide builds best I can using the stock hardpoints. And then I show builds with what I think are the likely inflated hardpoints. For omnimechs, I do each variant one a time, building upon the previous variants as I go. So for instance if there is a Prime, B, and C variant... when I get to the C variant, it will include omnipods for the Prime, B, and C variants. But when I'm doing the B variant, I will not include omnipods for the C variant, because we haven't gotten to the C variant yet. I do this because PGI likes to release omnimechs in alphabetical or chronological order - reinforcement variants are usually later variants, so those builds wouldn't be available on earlier variants unless you bought a reinforcement package.

well, viper can probably use 5ml or 4mpl or 5 spl ice ferret builds except it also would be one of the most jumpy mechs in mwo

i'm not sure about its podspace though and if it can pick machine guns at the same time with all that

We may never see some of the bugs (Stinger, Wasp) due to that whole unseen thing, but one bug available to us is the Hornet.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hornet

20 tons, jump jets, and base engine is a STD100 so it would play as a different animal than the Locust. Variants available HNT-151, 152, 161 and 171.

Hard points are energy and missile and likely a double AMS somewhere in there.

right now we can imitate the classic marauder (mad 1r/2r/3r, they all are nearly the same) builds with oni-chan, on1-k
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=99

it has the same 1 right torso ballistic and 2 energy per each arm like the classic marauder and it weights the same 75 tons, and it's the inner sphere, so, you can use smurfy for your future marauder builds :3

pgi may add the new hardpoints and also the version mad-3d has an energy hardpoint instead of the cannon, mad-4x has 2 missile hardpoints instead of the cannon (you still can use on1-k for those, it has 2 torso missile hardpoints which you ignore when you imitate the classic mad), bounty hunter 3044 has a head energy etc, but for the classic marauder you can use on1-k on smurfy

Your link doesn't work. I'd guess you didn't copy the "save and share loadout" link.

MAD-1R

It's bad though. Really, really bad. Even the -2R with DHS is bad.

umm? my link works, it's naked on1-k, i don't propose a build but a way to model your marauder builds on smurfy

well pgi disclosed the hardpoints already... 3 ballistic huh

upd
my build idea for mad-3r, dakkarader aka banshee-lite: 3 ac/5, 7 tons of ammo, std 300 (71 kmh with the speed tweak) and 2 medium lasers (either both in the right arm for more concentrated firepower, or both in the left arm in case if you lose the right torso with your 3 ac/5, or one in each arm, dunno what's better)

Firemoth (Dasher!) has been added to the OP. Enjoy. =]

EDIT: the rest of this post serves as an archive of my old original post at the top of the thread.

Welcome to Taro's theorycraft thread! In this post I'll take some mechs that haven't made it into MWO yet and do all the work to see how they'll turn out, complete with Smurfy builds! All Smurfy builds are true to every detail, including DPS, jump height, running speed, actuators, exact armour distribution, and all critical slots. If you do spot any errors, let me know. =]

Quick reference - which mechs will be good in MWO and which bad?

From now on, my head canon explanation for the ECM arm on the Dasher is that they just super glued the MLX ECM arm on it the wrong way.

Viper/Dragonfly has been added to the OP! I like this little laserboat. I really hope it makes it into the game soon, it's actually very unique and has enough hardpoints to perhaps be more viable than the Ice Ferret.

THANK YOU! This is awesome. I was wondering myself about the Dragonfly. Though I still recall the Dasher won't be in any time soon due to its game breaking speed. (As an aside in MW2 with JJ I got it to go over 320kmph... before it exploded when it hit a mesa wall..)

It would indeed be amusing to see how little the Dasher/Firemoth would have to pop up over a ridge to shoot.

If you do do the Black Lanner, any plans to do the Fire (Turkey) Falcon?

Chameleon, anyone?

Dating back to the Crescent Hawk's Inception, of course, so it should have a place in our hearts.

Lots of energy weapon hard points, Clan-medium speed (97.2 km/h), JJs. That is, potentially very meta-capable.

The Inner Sphere needs a hero, not just a tin can with a funny paint job. I think this mech COULD be that hero.

I looked at it, but it's 3056, so it's outside of the current timeline. But for the record, it's not looking too hot for inclusion. Two possible variants (the -7V and -4V) have plenty of hardpoints, but are pretty much identical in every way. Two other variants (the -7W and -7Z) only have three hardpoints each, so I'm not sure what would be done with them to bring them into MWO - it's very open ended. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
