Oooooooohhhhh!
The Archer countdown has begun....
Time to wait for that size comparison video and the quirks list and see if we're getting something viable/good or just another walking target with bad hit boxes????

---------------------@PGI TEAM--------------------
STILL no word on the hit boxes for those deployable skyscraper bullet catchers..... I mean Bay doors?
Has anything been said, done, etc about them? Cause Russ kept avoiding/ignoring/didn't notice/didn't care when me and a few others asked about it last town hall. And all I've been able to find is bits of unsubstantiated chatter about them not counting as the ST hit boxes or a new mechanic that they can be shot off? Either be fine by me (anything long as the don't count and effectively triple this poor things already (visually) bad STs) but I'd like someone from PGI to throw out there piece..... Rather then just hoping or believing in those unsubstantiated chatters?

FWIW, that chatter originated directly with Russ on Twitter a while back. He said that the missile doors would not count as hitboxes when open and could be blown off.

Yeah.... I'd heard that's where it started on that.... Then that that was just a rumor.... Then some other stuff!

I'm no real twitter user/master (personally I avoid mind numbing social media.... But that's a different rant :-D) , so never really "dug up" anything too far. Thus I was just hoping to get an official response here finally.... Or something long those lines!
*crosses fingers*

Why do all these badges have to use an orange background? Can't they mix it up with different colours...

Hhhnnngh this is going to be the best (read: worst) week ever. Especially looking forward to the gameplay sneak peek and the scale comparison.
Also, I'm actually kind of hoping that the missile doors will be hittable when open. Unless the quirks are non-existent or utter garbage, it'll level the playing field a little bit so that everyone isn't getting roflstomped by LRMs for the next 5 weeks

As far as I know, the missile doors don't count toward your mech's structure, but got their own HP-pool for the sole sake of shooting them off. Like, 10 HP or something like that.

Would be more interesting to know if the old "closed missile bays reduce damage by 10%" still holds true. With such massive doors, a 10% durability quirk on a side torso is neat - especially if going for a laserheavy build with an XL fusion engine.

Is the CT-esq cockpit going to be vulnerable ????

I ponder.

Here's hoping that those missile bay doors are indeed separate from the torso hitboxes.
If that works like Russ mentioned (no damage to Torsos when Doors are shot) then we're golden.
I don't think quirks will even matter, this thing can already fit a few roles quite nicely.

It will have no problem as an XL LRM boat or STD heavy brawler.

ARC-2R - 6x Energy? Fantastic even without counting missiles.
ARC-5S - 5x Missile with 4x Energy? No problem
ARC-5W - 9x Missile - STD-Engine-SRM-Jesus-Mech --or-- xXxStreakboatxXx
ARC-T - 6x Energy? Yeah we're good. Oh ECM too? AND two missile points? K den.

Assuming it works like Russ mentioned, doors having their OWN armor separate from torsos, I'd think it'll work like this:

We won't even need structure bonus quirks, because the closed bay doors will soak their own damage first, meaning you can AC10 a side torso without doing any damage to it, because the doors absorb all that damage (and are now destroyed).

I can see me living in the ARC-T for a long while. XL based Long Range ECM Harasser with LRMs and ERLs -or- the standard SRM and Pulse laser brawler...it will all be down to heat management, but, this is definitely going to be a go-to ECM mech in my stable.

If memory serves... Last town hall Russ said the doors could be uninstalled in the mechbay. So, if the doors do count towards the hitbox (I don't remember hearing anything about that one way or the other) you can simply opt to uninstall them.

Also... Beware the SRM54 Archer! >:3
