We've all seen the standard form of bipedal Mechs. However, how about bringing back the 4-legged and Land-Air Mechs (Mechs that can transform between ground and flying modes)?
I think it should be both but the Land-Air mechs have to be a bit more fragile than most other mechs.

Update 1: just a thought while I was researching. There were legged mechs but were multi-person so was thinking of using tagteam mechs.

Wow....LAMs would be a huge recon asset. Dont see it happening though. Might unbalance things to much. Heck yes to Quads.....but they never really went away.

Yes but the LAMs have to be more fragile than their standard counterparts

LAMs would be a major technical issue likely (pretty sure you cannot just expand the map "upwards" on an unlimited scale. I'm actually not sure if it hasn't been mentioned already by PGI there will be no LAMs in game... The quadrupeds is more of a flavour thing I reckon. I'd personalyl like to see some, even though they never were the most popular Mechs.

Oh Hell yes to the quads. Yeah I know their heyday isn't until the 3060 when the bias against quad mechs finally gets dropped. Think of it.

You know you want this.Posted Image

LAMs were already hampered under the TT rules - they lost tonnage to conversion gear - 10% of mech weight which is alot when you think a Phoenix hawk loses 4.5 tons equivalent to 2 med lasers & 2.5 tons of armour or as was done
increase mech by 5 tons - increase heat sinks by 2
but reduce engine size by 2 tons to get movement reduced by 14 kph
& reduce jump jets by 1/2 ton so jumping reduced by 30 metres
gain 3x jump capability in hybrid mode (piloting skill roll every landing) & gain ability of flight

in hybrid mode if you lost a wing you fell 3 elevations (thats a bad fall) & armour for wings came from side torsos from memory

I would be happy if LAMs came out with hybrid mode but no fighter mode unless fighter get introduced later

Yeah, LAMS are neat, but... I just don't see them making the cut. They're already pretty rare, and the last LAM factory is going to get razed to the ground in about a year (game time). I would be interested to see quads make the cut.

Quads are interesting and implementable, while Lams are impossible game wise. I do not see a reason not to implement them.

quads i think would be especially interesting because while they usually lack proper torso twist (though they can mount turrets, and usually have swivel mounted guns with some minor arc when they lack turrets) , they can full on strafe at full speed IIRC, not to mention are hard as hell to knock over, have lower profiles, and can kick aw day erry day without worrying about falling.

LAMs where one of the aspects I loved of the game. I always viewed them as psycho scouts since they were a weaker version of a scout mech in some regards. Hit and run always came to mind with them or just straight recon.

Quads, if someone likes them, ok, but no LAM please, beside historical curiosity.

Quads are basically the same as the Tanks in the universe, at least as far as how I imagine their role in the battlefied since you can't have weapons on the arms, just on a turret more or less. I'd imagine they only exist for psychological warfare as opposed to actual warfare.

LAMs never made any sense to me as was never into MACROSS, etc. Let's consider them a burnt sacrifice to the lawyers.

Quads, sure, if they can still be found/built/repaired. Better to wait for a major expac so the game balance can be tuned for the 'Mechs we are expecting in initial release.

I ssay go for the quadmechs... ive always liked them myself and though i probably wont be piloting one (aint fast enough) i do think they definatly have a place.

As for LAM.... the whole concept always looked rediculous to me and a tad too animesque (which aint nececarily a bad thing, i just like to avaid that within battletech)
But if enough people want them, why not?
