The commander role is intriguing me, from what I can gather he/she will be able to issue orders to individual mechs, so will you follow blindly what your commander says or will you say nope bad idea and do something else?
Hopefully I will be in a clan which has decent commanders in but when they are not in and I just join a random match I do fear that many will have no idea.
But seeing as Iam going to RP my time on the game I will do as they say.(unless it is really stupid like goto a corner of the map and wait)
Oh and I can't wait for the 1st vid explaining the ins and outs of the commander role.

It's an order, therefore I do. I can't wait for the hardcore RPs with hardcore players. That'll be a blast.

They'd better follow my orders, if I'm with my Merc corp. I am the commander of it, after all.

We'll see.....in a shooter, where my commander is some random dude..I follow their orders if I deem them not to suicidal or straying to far from my current plans...

If im feeling lucky and im with the rest of the cronies I will be playing with then maybe all together we will just follow the orders...will have to wait and see just what the commanders in this game are made of. I know the BF commanders would issue orders like 5 year olds, prolly just to hear the Emotes of the commander.

If I am on a team and there is a commander, my point of view is that I am a team player or else I am not playing on that team.

I will have my lance mates by my side at all times.

As far as the rest of A-Company, they will be where I put them (and by their own Lance leaders' sides).
Of course this is going to take some inter-unit training. haha

Though my intent is to try and drop as commander with my group, should I be dropping with another group I would follow all reasonable orders to the best of my ability. But, as inevitably happens in life as with video games, when you get a commander who appears to be throwing darts at a map to determine what he's going to do next, I might have to 'mistake my coordinates' and wind up somewhere more advantageous to the team.

After all, an order for a scout mech to push through a lance of assaults to reinforce a heavy friendly engaged with yet another lance...would be a bit on the side of futility. Sure, you might zip past without taking any damage, but worst case...you catch their attention and not only get yourself killed, but bring the group along behind you to slaughter the friendly you were sent to reinforce. And we all know Commanders are fully capable of ignoring 'minor' details of such encounters.

The devs recently expressed, and they've done this a couple of times, that units will need to remain relatively close for the sake of communications and information warfare to act properly. This isn't going to stop me from sending my Scouts out to do their jobs, and then return with any intel, but when the fight actually commences, I'll have units where they need to be in order to maintain commo and intel exchanges.

I will honor his opinion, but if it is complete nonsense, I'll just do it my way. <_<

As I plan on dropping as part of of our well organized unit 90% of the time, I see no reason to not follow orders when they are given. In the rare case I drop with a commander I have no faith in I will do my best to head their directions (them being the guys with much of the information) but I will preserve my mech, my lancemates, my life and the mission even if that means doing something other than the orders given.

I'll only do it if the bitchlorette Romano Liao herself shows up on the battlefield.

If he's a good commander and screws up, well, that happens. I know in Eve some corps offer buy back programs for home defense. Maybe the Merc or house faction leaders will offer that to supplement fail missions.
But, I follow orders. I would hope that especially Merc units would remember " he who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day."
Good commanders will help their company get through the mission, or get out without excessive casualties.
It should not be uncommon for a good commander to pull the plug an retreat back to the rendezvous point.
I'm in to win and I take care of my lance mates.

As it stands every 10year old and their dog wants to be a commander so the most likely answer is NO unless i trust the commander 'cos i've met him/her in the past and made the right choices or if the "orders" are leading me in the same direction where i think it is the best for the team.

I will follow my commander's orders to the best of my ability unless the rest of the company is in agreement on a more efficient/less risky/etc way of achieving our objective, and our commander refuses to at least consider our proposal. Basically if our commander is competent and not deaf to good advice when given, I'm good.

If the person giving orders has a proven record of being good at his job, or I otherwise know and respect them, then yes, I'll absolutely follow his orders.

If he's an eleven year old barking nonsense then no. Not in a million years.

I reserve the right to refuse orders such as: "go charge that line of entrenched assualt mechs with your hunchback."
