Battlemech 18 - ?

Obviously, there will be medium, heavy, and assault.
What do you want to have from next medium? Personally I want to see some really balanced machine - not overweighted light like Cicada or underweighted heavy like Centurion and Hunchback. I really like to see something else than Dragon moving >70 km/h.
Sadly, most of good IS mediums are unseens: Shadow Hawk, Phoenix Hawk and Griffin. But what about Chameleon, Wyvern and totally epic Crab.
Next Heavy? Well, now when we have Cataphract announced, we know we'll have something not only to spam missiles and slugs from >600m. Not really a mech to stand face to face with assaults IMO (like Warhammer), but at least something. If we'll strike out all unseens, clan mechs and all really similar to already announced (like Caesar), we'll have Orion, Guillotine and Grasshopper.
And finally, last assault. Now we have Atlas (pretty well balanced for all distances), Awesome (mostly long-range with PPC and LRMS), Stalker (mostly long range too), and Highlander (well-mixed), so I guess we could use something for close-range like Emperor, King Crab or Victor.

Also, there are still nice choices for mediums, like Vindy, Blackjack and others.

The 45 ton Vindicator or the 75 ton Orion would be nice.

as Heavy Mechs sporting mostly energy weapons they would be fine, as there is already a viable LRM Platform and mixed weapon platform available in this size class... (would love to see the Warhammer/Marauder QQ) and i like the looks ;D
note: Battleaxe could give a heavier LRM platform, too... should have sufficient missile hardpoints...

Both Mechs were, from a canon BT point of view, oddballs. Highlander, a little produced downgraded Starligue Mech considered to be rare or super rare and the Flea, a newly reproduced light Mech of little renown history.
What comes next ? <Irony on>
Chameleon would be very fitting.
A Battlemech dedicated to train new warriors only.
Yea nice. Someone for the newbies.
Or maybe a Hoplite, a CraP or a Sentinel. All either restricted to a house, rare or only existing within comstar.
Not to speak of ther lack regarding sufficent alternate variants.
<irony off>
Thunderbolt, Guilotine, Black Knight or Thug could be candidates.
All according to SARNA in production and with sufficient number of alternates.
For the medium class it could be the Blackjack, the Hermes II, (Starslayer), (Wyvern).
The last two Battlemechs are either downgraded during the succession wars or were only in the hands of one house. Still both would be available in considderable numbers and with sufficent variants. Other Battlemechs in the medium class are either lacking sufficent numbers of variants or are filling roles already covert by already anouced mechs. (Withworth, Dervish) --> Trebutchet
So Blackjack or Hermes II would be logical from my point of view.
But as already said. There may be surprises.
Edit: forgot about the Orion.
Never liked that Mech

I wish it was Crab/Orion/King Crab, but not gonna happen unfortunately

Why not, actually? They are not unseens, produced since Star League era and came back with Helm memory core, just as Highlander did. Also they all have some fresh variants at 3050.

The Imp has IS tech, Wolf's Dragoons brought it with them from Clan Space when they started their mission.
It's around, but it's a Dragoon exclusive.

The Cougar will be produced in 3058, so it'll still take 9 years.

I really hope you guys don't think this game is going to be based off the cannon exactly right?
