The Rifleman

But then I usually find out a way to make things difficult for myself. This build will be a LOT of conceptualization as I progress. First we start off with an actual concept.
It's just the basic shape for the moment with some parts I'd already made. I wanted to visualize the defining features of the RIfleman and get an idea of where to go.
Then looking at all of the canon Rifleman designs, I figure I'd try to do a blend just like before. Taking elements from all three designs. The Defender, Rifleman IIc, and the Phoenix version.
So with detailing, lets get with the guns!
More later...

I plan to. As I said in my initial post:

The thing is, the Phoenix version is bloody ugly and the original is from anime. So my goal here is to try to make a distinct redesign that captures elements from a number of sources.
For instance, I'm trying to avoid the boomerang shaped radar. Since this is generally an anti-aircraft build, I turned the Defender's ammo packs into AEGIS styled arrays. On the Phoenix version, that area had become mounts for the radar blades on the top. I'm not completely sold on the AWACS type radar dome as a replacement though as it's too much like the other ugly cousin, the IIc.
Most of this will be conceptualization, so I'm not going to build a canon design.

Not in all incarnations. This one looks better than even the original Rifleman, but I can understand you (Shadow Hawk... became Cobra Commander ). But that's for a different thread altogether.

Working on the arm mounts. Not too happy with how this turned out.

I also changed the shoulder mount to reflect the octagonal shoulders of the Defender. I tried the lengthened laser barrel, but it looked unbalanced with how thin the AC barrel is.

Sorry, I'm old and I've been out of the BT loop for awhile..
Are you referring to the original 13 banned mechs from the Macross saga, that FASA lost the lawsuit to?

They expanded the number a bit later. Here's the full list: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Unseen
Most of them just got new images and are now once again usable, except for the original 12.

But please lets not get into a HG vs Fasa thing. That's not what the thread's about.
To the OP. Awesome work. Really looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Not much progress today. Still trying to sort out how I want to do the torso. I want to try and get away from the Defender model with the shoulder packs, but still incorporate them somehow. I also learned that the center torso window isn't actually window for the cockpit, but for some sort of sensor suite. So I've been trying to incorporate the Reseen cockpit into it somehow. I think the more forward position works.
First image shows dropping the shoulder packs. Second is playing with variations on a theme.
