My personal Letter To Razer.

Greetings to you at Razer! Today i have a very big question for you. I am writing to you on the behalf of the Mechwarrior Online Community, as you may or may not have heard about the extremely big fuss turning around this game and PGI (Devs) since yesterday.

I was about, like a lot of us as well, to pre-order and or buy your amazing ARTEMIS Mechwarrior controller to play the game, when you will release it. The big problem is now, that the game is actually played as an FPS (1st person view shooter) as intended, and that is why we wanted to get your amazing ARTEMIS controller in the future. Now most of the community members i spoke to, won't buy your controller as we speak for one big major reason sadly.

Yesterday, PGI, the devs of the Mechwarrior online team announced in an official podcast, that they would turn the game into a 3RD person view shooter instead instead of keeping it the way it was intended, which will make, sadly and unfortunatly your ARTEMIS controller useless and obsolete, as you will agree, no gamers will buy an expensive and immersive 1st person controller to play a...3RD person view shooter.

The Mechwarrior Online community have spoken in mass though, and voted NO TO 3RD PERSON (90%) on many posts on the forums. We do NOT want the game to be transformed that way. I hope you can contact PGI, and also re-assure us on that matter, as for now, none of us will buy this controller BEFORE we can be 100% sure that the game will remain an FPS and not a 3rd person one.
Thank you guy. And may you have a great day.

Rob. D.

I am following the Artemis controller since day one 5 months ago, i also sent my own feedback on it after reviewing the specs, i subscribed to the Artemis newsletter and infos by mail as well, and still following it as we speak. You can do it as well by entering your infos on the bottom of their page.

Here is also the E3 video where they say it will go into full production once its ready.
Fast forward to 3:30 for the actual Artemis MWO controller

I will keep you all informed of Razer's reply on this matter.
Even if most of you already know, here is the official link for the ARTEMIS by RAZER.

I think you should actually listen to the podcast before you send letter to companies... .. .

To sum it up... You are wrong. But do listen to it any way so that you will know why you are wrong. Or if english is not your native language have someone translate it for you so you do not misunderstand things.

I have listened to the whole 1h+ podcast yesterday, i know that PGI said that if we do not want 3rd person into MWO, they would "probably not implement it" But as a Razer customer myself, if i am to buy this expensive controller, and you will agree my friend, i need like most of us, to be 100% sure that this game will REMAIN an FPS. Period.

You will have the OPTION of 3rd person. I plan on staying with 1st person myself.

I can guarantee you that you will always have the option to play this game as a FPS. PGI have promised that they will always keep that an option.

And if you feel insecure about it just wait a bit and see how they implement the TPS system before you plonk down enough cash for a stick to solve the Greece financial crisis.

Afaik they have not even commited to proiduction of the Artemis yet .. or did i miss something.?

And one more thing for you Alex, so far PGI are working on the 3rd person view, i do not care how they will do it, how they will make it work, how they will implement it, the only thing i care about regarding the ARTEMIS controller, is that i am following this one since the day one, and i was about to buy it in the perspective of playing an FPS game, as this is what this controller is all about, unless you do not know anything about it yourself, i gave you the link...Use it.

Please do not write letters on behalf of the community. You do not speak for me and I am sure you don't have the backing to speak for the countless others in the Mechwarrior Community.

As far as i know, the whole thing turning around the Artemis controller has been on hold exactly for the same reason we are here now, and because Razer also need to know what the hell PGI are gonna do with this game. Its all nebulous, no real answers, no real announcements from PGI so far, its only speculation, but as a professional business, you cannot start the production of an FPS expensive controller and launch it on the market without total backing of the production house itself.

So far its a big mess.

I know what the Artemis is... And to my knowledge very little outside of the prototype and a blurb have been given. The link you have is the same stuff they had at release. So i think it is a bit early to start asking Razr to worry about a product we do not even know will be released yet.

Grammar is your friend.

Also your letter reeks of ignorance in how businesses operate. I would be VERY surprised if the Artemis goes to production. This game is designed for the masses and that's why PGI wants the 3rd person view. So [REDACTED] people can play the game.

Wrong my friend, i ask questions on behalf of 90% of us all who said NO to 3rd person and we demand answers now on what PGI will finally do with this game, once and for all. Period.

Just because the option for staying in 1st person will be there, doesn't mean people will use it. It's splitting the already growing smaller group of people to play against, even smaller. People will eventually switch to 3rd person because of the tactical abilities it will give you. Even if they don't allow targeting around the corner of terrain, I can still see someone is there before they actually get around the corner.

If they are dead set on implementing it, haven't really listed to NGNG as I find it kind of pointless usually, then I'll deal with it or just leave the game. I've long since got my $60 worth out of this game in time played as it is so I'm not too pissed about having to leave. However, if they are willing to not put it in, as they appear to have possibly said, then I'll be far happier. The game does not need 3rd person view.

If someone needs 3rd person view just to figure out which way their legs are pointed, then they honestly have far bigger issues than MW:O. I honesty wouldn't want someone like that on my team, let alone in this game. For they are very sad and dumb individuals or have extreme handicaps, in which case I feel for them, but still can't make this game for everyone. TPS, as you nicely put it, will drive away more than it will pull in.

Edit: As for the Artemis, I like the look of it, but I can't afford it. Being 3rd or 1st person wouldn't stop me from buying it if I had the money. I had a ******* setup for MW3 and 4 and they allowed 3rd.

I don't care about grammar as long as the message is clear.
The question is clear enough, the answers from PGI should be as clear as the questions themselves.

so you are asking about a controller that does not exist, for a game that is not released calling upon backing form a community you do not know.

That is a lot of nothing right there. =)

Edit: And Vactus... seeing as you are a scryer... can i have next weeks winning ticket for the lotto.? It is way to early to say if and how the TPs system will affect the game.. mostly because not even the devs know exactly how it will work yet.

A bigger question is this. No one was calling for 3rd person view or as far as I know complaining about not knowing where their torso was pointed. If anything people were calling for more content and as far back as CB... a tutorial mode.

Why are we getting 3rd person?

Isn't it right?
And yet we are spending fortunes here already for founder packs, Premium time, MCs, buying mechs etc etc
All this on promises that PGI didn't keep.
As i said, i am following the Razer Artemis since day one, and before i spend a fortune on a nice controller, which i really want by the way, i'm sure you'll understand that i need to know what will happen to this game once and for all.

Actually a good amount of people have been calling for it.. On the beta boards and (if the devs are to be believed) during trade shows and similar events.

I believe your letter was premature, and that you can only really speak for yourself and not our collective community.

It was just announced as a possibility and from what I have seen of the responses here on the forum there is a resounding (90% vote with thousands of people) asking PGI not to implement it for reasons best left in those threads. I cannot even recall the last poll that was that one-sided. No doubt PGI are going to wait at least a week or two before making a decision to make sure people have had the time to be alerted and respond.

It's released. Razer won't release the controller until PGI stop faffing around, however. When the community starts sending out messages like the OP, companies get worried, and questions will be asked by those who have money.

So, you are buying an expensive controller for ONE game? Back in the 90s, I bought a motion tracking headset MAINLY for Mechwarrior 2, but I used it for a lot of other games as well.
