Hello everyone!

I haven't posted on the Forums yet, but this is a good time to start! I am currently 6th on the Light Ranking for the tournament, and I exclusively have piloted a Spider 5D. It has been an experience so far, that's for sure. Now, I am sure most of my fellow light focused pilots are riding in a raven 3L as that is what I have seen the most of in terms of light enemies. I am fairly certain that I am now the highest rated non-3L non-Commando-with-streaks light player. Anyway, a "non-optimal" build has reached the top 10, both due to player skill and perseverance. I just want to say, 72 hours is a long time to try and be active! Next time, 6 or 12 hours will do for this type of tourney :D

PS: I started playing right after the spider came out and have not yet spent any money on the game. I plan to, for mech bays, just haven't yet.

EDIT2:Just saw the feedback thread, I guess this can be merged into it if need be.

Wait, your "non-optimal" light is the only Spider version with ECM?

it is a ecm light, nothing non-optimal about that. try getting top 10 without ECM. That would be something to brag about.

Have you ever played a spider 5d? In terms of firepower and general ability to do damage to an opponent it does not even come close to a raven or commando, and that is all that I am competing against. I don't see your name anywhere on the leaderboards...

It's also an ECM light with the smallest hitbox in game and the best lagshield.

Interesting that those who are commenting are all legendary founders. Can't throw money at it, it must be useless...

ECM does not mean you have a good mech. Any spider is a hard mech to pilot effectively. I got up to 9th in my 3L (3rd early on but it was too early to really count) before I got tired of having to keep up. I can't imagine doing that in a spider, well done.

Guys, it's not the the ECM that is overpowered. It is the combination of ECM+Streaks that is unbreakable.

You must have lots of patience of you made it to top 10 with only energy weapons in a light, how do you deal with Streak+ECM lights though? Run away?

^this.

i'm easily better than a lot of the other guys i see in the top assault bracket (i drop with them regularly, they're just nowhere near as good as i am) and they have triple my match score because they were willing to grind out the games.

at the highest, i was 41st on the assault bracket, and that was WITH finishing every match.

run away or try and leg them. Lasers dont have to do alot of damage, I just focus on one part until it pops. It really throws people off in a spider, running around, hitting them for no damage until it is nearly too late for them. Also, Wispsy may be a great jenner pilot...That is one out of my competition who is not a 3L of streakmando.

Yeah, no. Third-best light in the game is not "non-optimal." Especially now that lights don't automatically spawn other lights, meaning you're not guaranteed to run up against a 3L or 2D, which are the only two light mechs better than the 5D.

I'm not saying it takes less skill than a 3L or 2D, by any means, but it's still a top-tier light.

the difference with the spider is that it takes pilot skill to be good in, while the other two dont.
