Yep, you sure are taking this in stride.

God forbid he try to be a decent person and do the right thing. He's got my respect. I don't think he cares if he has yours.

Profanity doesn't bother me. Racial slurs and the like ain't cool though. Bluntly it's in the terms of use and code of conduct. Saying that it should be ignored is just, well, being part of the problem. If someone is breaking CoC, ToS or the like be that inappropriate language or botting or whatever report it and let it go. PGI will deal with it.

It's PGIs rules to set and enforce. You can report your concerns but PGI will deal with it as they see fit.

Exactly how I feel. Most games have a profanity filter you can switch on and off. I usually leave it off. But slurs are almost always filtered out automatically, regardless of that option.

I can really see them banning some paying costumers on account of their bad language.
It's not like this behavior is rampant in every single gaming community and everyone eventually gives in to sheer frustration due to the randomness of the matchmaker or the incomplete state of the game itself in this case...

Perhaps PGI will start throwing the banhammer around at some point.

But I doubt it.

To be honest. I don't think reporting does anything. We are prevented from name and shaming on the forums yet when players are reported there is nothing done. This is especially true of team killing. I see the same players who have a habit of starting the game with an Alpha strike of Two Gauss or AC/20 to your rear center torso playing week after week despite reports made against them. If they allow this kind of behavior for team killing then I certainly doubt anything will be done about language no matter what the content. I also witnessed a team killer claim he was staff and immune to banning after a purposeful team kill at start up when several declared they were going to report him. Very ugly that this is allowed to happen. Just how many player have to report someone? How many screenshots? To be honest I know they would just start another account but I am annoyed that we can't even warn other players of their actions.

I've noticed the same thing. I really don't think reporting does anything. I even asked in one of my emails to support what the policy is. I didn't get a response.

It's not an issue of people attacking me personally.

All it takes for (racists, sexists, homophobes, etc) to prevail is for good people to do nothing.

Good on ya OP. I don't mind a little trash talk but blatantly vulgar or hateful comments I can do without. This is a fun game, why bring that garbage in here?

I seriously don't get it. I do not swear at people in the game or use racial slurs. But...Why do you people care so much?? They are words. Ignore them for the love of God! They cannot hurt you. Holy crap. I shudder to think what you people would do if you came and spent a day with my unit. You would probably go an report us to the President or some crap.

Then what does it matter to you? You're not going to change people, and no amount of silly internet rules are going to stop it. Not to mention the fact that you're literally doing exactly what people like me want by having such an enormous and self-righteous tantrum about it. If it were me who'd instigated your insane white knighting quest I'd totally be swimming in it right now.

Hey, I curse like a sailor, but bigotry is just crossing the line. Hate speech isn't appropriate. It's not crazy and weird to oppose hate. Since when is it too sensitive to want to stop bigotry? You want to start skipping hand in hand with the KKK or something? Why be an apologist for bigots? You've got nothing better to do... ?

While I see where the OP is coming from, I've always held the belief that if you let them get to you, they win and are further just propagating the use of the offending statements. If the statement no longer offend who it is aimed at, it loses all effect for the offender.

Racism has no place in this game or any game for that matter and said players should be removed. It doesn't make sense that you can moderate a forum yet not your game. There is a difference between someone who is a hot head and tossing profanity around because he is mad and one who simply harasses other players out of bigotry or even sexism.

An interesting thread.

I find that more and more people these days seem to have the mindset, that if they're offended, they're entitled to "get back at" or punish the person that offended them. This is absolutely not true, you have no such right.

That being said, these servers belong to Piranha, and if they say "no slurs here" they have every right to remove them if they wish.

There's still nothing wrong with shunning bigots and telling them they have no place in a community as awesome as this. Standing up to such losers and exiling them is one of the best steps you can take.

The thing is you can't exile them, shunning them does little to nothing. In fact it is just showing them that their comments are having an effect and reinforces a reason for them to make them.

I believe this thing you're proposing is called 'whiteknighting', milady, and I can assure you that it is absolutely not how game developers and publishers work; they're not going to suspend or ban accounts because of player-player interactions in a PvP title.

Of course you can exile and shun them. Reasonable people don't tolerate that sort of thing. Do you think the Civil Rights movement was a success because people ignored hatred and bigoted speech? **** no! People said, "Stop that **** if you want to be part of this church/be my friend/belong to this club, etc..."

You don't stick your head in the sand when the KKK rolls into the town picnic. You kick the ******* out on their ***** and tell them to **** off.

Bullying isn't cool. Bullying is lame.
Bullying is ugly and has a stupid name.
For a healthy world, bullying's unfit.
And I think I know what we should do to i-it.
Do do do do do to i-it.

Let's all get together and make bullying kill itself.
Bullying's an ugly thing
Let's shove its face in the dirt and make bullying kill itself.
Woah-oh. Woah-oh. Woah-oh.

We can make it stop. We can stomp it out.
We can beat its *** until it starts to cry.
Let's gang up on it and tell it it smells
And beat its *** worse if it ever te-lls.
If if if it ever te-lls.

Lets all join together to try to make bullying kill itself.
It'll be fun to see just how bad we can make it feel
and make bullying kill itself.
Woah-oh. Woah-oh. Woah-oh.

Not only can you not exile them. You are not even allowed to let the rest of the player base know about their behavior. Although I am curious if such a list of offenders is allowed on a private web page. Suppose you could always make a post of frequent offenders anonymously.

Except that this "line" you speak of is totally arbitrary to whatever you've been told or convinced is okay, and your ridiculous hyperbolic overreaction of equating using those words openly wreaks of liberal guilt. Trying to sanction use of the word only maintains the power it has to upset people and makes you look like an *****.
