Greetings all,

I used to play MW2 and 3, single player, WAY back in the day. I always used the keyboard and mouse for control, but I'm thinking that might not be the best idea for multiplayer. So I'm wondering, experienced community/joystick users, what is the best stick for this game?

I have only ever used joystick for single player games. It's just 10 times easier to aim with your mouse. No matter what joystick you end up buying you wont get the same precision you will with a gaming mouse. It is however more fun to play with a proper joystick. I like the x52 pro myself but haven't tried that many joysticks as I mostly play with mouse and keyboard.

Whichever one you have. Seriously though it's at least got to have throttle control, Z rotational axis. Also try and find one with as many buttons as feasable and a top hat if you can find one (not sure if that is what they are exactly called) Force feedback is a bonus.

Personally I have a Logitech 3d Pro. It isn't the nicest joystick Ive ever used but you can still find em new for about $30. I don't used the full 12 buttons on it but I do use about 10 of em for various actions

Force feedback can be fun but it's not good for you if you plan for some longer gaming sessions.

I would wait till the game comes out before making any kind of recommendation or decision. They have not even confirmed that a joystick will be supported.

Awesome, thanks for all the info guys!

I'm looking for stick for BF3 as well, but if they add joystick support for this game, I'll definately be picking one up.

Cyborg Gold is my pref on sticks, cheep and very well made, two of them has lasted a little under 6 years of almost daily abuse.

Unfortunately you can't find the old Saitek Cyborg's without going second-hand. Otherwise I'd recommend the Cyborg because that stick was awesome for the price, and it supported lefties. They have the new Cyborg F.L.Y 5 or whatever, but it's just not the same.

I've got an old microsoft sidewinder precision 2 and really enjoyed it for the mechwarrior games. It is actually built well and has all the functions you could ask for. Unfortunately they stoped making them some time ago.

Yeah, they discontinued those old Cyborg designs.

And anyone that is still holding onto their Sidewinder has the holy grail of joysticks.

I've been eyeballing this HOTAS, pretty cheap, and has gotten some pretty good reviews. Like others have said however, should probably wait to see more details about the game before deciding what you will want/need.

I've got a Saitek x52 Flight Control system kicking around for whenever I feel like playing flight sims. Got a ton of buttons, a graphical display (which is rarely ever supported *sigh*), and multiple hats, dials, and even one of those eraser nub-like mouse controllers that were so popular on the IBM Thinkpads back in the day.

All in all, it's total overkill but I'll probably give it a shot when the game comes out.

Another vote for the Saitek X52 Pro. But any good HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) system is a plus. Its almost alarming how much a throttle adds to the gameplay of a MechWarrior title. Whichever route you'd go I'd highly recommend a seperate throttle for the precision piloting it affords.

Wife got me this X52 Pro and I'm extremely pleased with it. Poorly documented, complicated setup program... but the drivers map all the buttons as keyboard inputs. The computer litterally just sees it all as keypresses. As long as whatever game supports joysticks, you can map a Saitek to it..

Another Saitek X52 (not Pro) user here. Great stick and throttle with tons of buttons, wheels, hats, etc. and the software lets you map the controls to key presses and load game profiles on the fly.

I used a Saitek x45 for playing MW4. I loved it. Never had to take my hands of the thing unless i wanted to type during gameplay. Had all the important and most used features mapped to buttons, it had enough of them. But alas, they no longer make it. I think I will go with the x52 when the time comes. It's almost the same thing, just slightly updated.

Don't tell me that! I just pulled out my old Sidewinder Pro in preparation for MWO (and of course BF3) and now I'm terrified to use it!
