if you let a splatcat get within 200m of you without ripping off one ear, and you get torn up, that is on you.

But the problem why they have become cheesy is DHS. Pre-dhs they were a joke, since you couldn't dissipate heat fast enough, thus ssrm2cats were the cheese. Currently there is no solution except nerfing either srm, which makes some mechs obsolete (centurions, 4sp), or nerfing dhs, which also ***** up most of the builds in game.

Look, I am sorry if you got alpha'd by a Splatcat and it knotted up you undies. The truth of the matter is that if you got surprised by any heavy or assault mech and got alpha'd twice you'd be dead (barring colossally bad or LRM builds). Those splatcats cannot carry ECM and even if they did they are visually unique enough that you should be pausing before you rush in to brawl with them nose to nose anyway.
Use the tools available to you. Figure out how not to get shot by opfor and win. Yes, getting stuck in a brawl with 4 Splatcats sucks. Same is true for getting stuck in with 4 RVN-3Ls. I'm also not interested in getting into it with 4 Stalkers or Atlases either.
But on the other end of the stick... Unless you are also a Splatcat, there are a lot of ways to punish a Splatcat from 300m or from his flank. I do it all the time in mechs that are small enough that it only takes one alpha, not two, to remove me from the match.

60 SRMs, in a tiny little truck. It could hide behind have a building, or in a small trench, and disintegrate its target.
Tanks OP, need nerf even though they aren't in game! Lululululululul. Too bad they said we will only be able to pilot mechs, I would love to roll around in one of those things and show people who is still boss in 3050.
It was a shame tanks were such crap in MW4M, never got to experience the 100 ton tanks myself.
How about this bad boy for size? http://www.sarna.net...i/Demolisher_II or the 2xAC20 version http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Demolisher

ECM. If theres ECM, suddenly that radar doesn't identify anything, including weapon load out. A splatcat under ECM can sneak up and blow it's load on your face.
Axe ECM and the Splatcat, StreakRaven and various other cheese mechs can be more easily dealt with.
And then other, vastly more obnoxious cheese mechs come back!

The other obnoxious cheese mech in question was the Streakcat, and frankly, now that it doesnt shake your screen like mad and hit 100% center torso coupled with the fact it takes > 1 JJ to jump now, the streakcat would be easier to deal with than Splatcats.
Especially if you were able to hit the ******** with LRMs before they close to < 200m.
ECM killed the one good viable counter to Splat/Streak|cats, LRMs. NERF ECM so it only works in a 200m bubble and the worlds a better place.

Now people are complaining that THOSE are too powerful.
If your argument about the splat centers on them being 'invisible due to ecm,' you should have started an ecm thread. Don't change the rules mid-argument. The SRM fills a very specific role - punching people in the face. You can only puch someone in the face effectively at about half to 2/3 the length of your arm.
It's really easy to tell what a missile Cat is carrying: it's either sitting in the back spitting LRM or PPC fire at you (lo the infamous PPC-missilepult), or it is rushing you. Whether it is in ECM or not, rushing meansshort range missiles. SSRM/SRM, doesn't matter. Blow an ear off and it's suddenly down half of the eggs it put in one basket.

A smart Splatter isn't attacking in a paper-duel vacuum. He's using ECM bubbles and cover and his teammates to screen him till he can drive up your 5-to-7 and blow you open or peel off your kit while you're busy with an Atlas in your face. Good Splats don't work alone. 1v1 they are dangerous but their real power comes from being part of a unit where you may not have the luxury of focusing it down.

They are not much of a problem. I normally do not get killed by one. When I play one sometimes I can flank and get off a few alphas on a target. Take it down. Normally after that though I get focused on. Every once in a while I guess there is no team communication and i can take out a second mech that does not even turn to look at me.
Surprising when that happens.
Normally though I brawl. The smart ones back off, communicate and de-ear my *** rather quickly.
Others try to go toe to toe with me. I love it when they try that.

So in other words, teamwork is OP

Really Ravens. Funny how my buddy backseat drove witnessed hitting ravens with 3x Full 2x srm 6 alphas and med lasers a raven not once but three times only for it to walk away unscathed yet damage light indicated hit and I watched a atlas with 3 srm sixes hit a raven full on twice and nothing. Yeah could care less about the splatcat there's bigger issues than some mech that has to be within 50 meters to be effective
