Take a break if you need to. Come back in a few months when CW is implemented. If you are just looking for a casual group, check out http://www.housesteiner.com/ , most of us are older than 28.

Kinda sad to read this because I'd be willing to talk to BBH about the state of gaming in general and catering to the lowest common denominator but as can be seen by his second post, Kraven nailed it dead on. BBH doesn't really want to talk about gaming or e-sport or competitive play. He wants to whine that this game is not his vision and therefore the world can blow it out its collective ear.

Congratulations on being almost 29. When you can grow up and stop being a special snowflake, let us know and I'll be happy to have a more mature discussion with you about gaming, game design, marketability and MMOs. I'll also be happy to explain the difference between an MMO and an MMORPG if you are interested.

i know a whole lot more about esports and competitive play then you probably think.
yes you are right. I had a vision of a game I love with a franchise I love free of one of the main problems in online games today, statistics. esports didnt start 3/4 years ago. Players like Thresh, Lexer and CZM didnt need stats to prove they were good and the scenes worked fine.
but yeah, asinine response with a more than veiled smugness and the limited depth I've come to expect from ppl on teh internetz nowadays

Lol, 28 (almost 29!) and burned out on games forever. I feel sorry for you on that regard, but keep your "Games are for kiddies I R GROWEDUP NAO" attitude to yourself. You sound like a reformed smoker.

Wait, I lied, you ended off your post with a bunch of snark and sniping at people just because. I change my pity to telling you to not let the door hit your burro on the way out. Because we like that door.

Now I know some of you are getting very angry at reading this, the trolls, the dribbling wrecks, the people who make games a struggle to play to those I say the following: You are the same person. I've seen you, talked with you and played with you across tons of games. You act in the same manner as everyone else in your bracket and anything and everything you say is very very easily predicted. The same distortion of facts, the same need to troll, the same need to bend reality to how you want, the same lack of depth, intelligence and taste is prevalent throughout all of you. I know you hate being as crap as you are. I know its hard to accept your limitations and I know the internet and games are a great way to vent this rage but know this, your life is only as horrible as you are making it. The further you get away from the truth the more terrible a person you become. There are literally millions of you out there, all the same, the same phrases, the same cliched personality, the same low brow and low standards, clogging up game servers and choking the fun out of what is meant to be entertainment. You are catered for and a lot of money is made off of you, that is the only thing you add to a world filled with wonder and amazement. Well done.

Do you not see that your opening post word count is about 25% to 33% devoted to stating how most other players are awful people?

And *I* am being smug?

So what I'm getting from the OP is that you dislike Elo.
You dislike it because instead of matching you randomly against people and letting you win a large portion of the games due to superior skill the system is instead placing you against equally skilled players and/or placing you with less skilled players in an attempt to make you lose 50% of your games regardless.
So this all comes down to you feel Elo is unfair in that it constantly increases the challenge you encounter until you have a good chance of losing.

Now that that's out of the way: if this is truly the way you feel you should leave and not coma back until CW is in and there is an absolute metric to measure yourself against.
Just stop playing with the current Elo, as it's not and never will be what you want out of this game, wait until there's something else here.

Now personally I enjoy Elo. I enjoy it because I care less about winning or losing than having a good close fight. I enjoy the challenge.
You don't apparently.

umm, little drama there, but this game is in beta status. nothing is written in stone yet afaik, elo is questionable at best. as far as MWO goes, I'm really trying to shake this noob status I feel, mechs don't control anything like in MechWarrior 4. feel like I went from a Mustang GT to a rambler, from the speed and handling of mechs in MWO trying to get used to it but I'm struggling, and if the DEVs decide to get rid of elo, don't worry I wont Beyotch, gripe or complain because your 94% better than I am. cheers, peace out...

Hey buddy. You don't need to come to the forums and post a topic in which you cry and insult other people when you quit. Why do people feel the need to do that?

oh im smug alright, i wouldnt deny that.
fact is, im not wrong. gamers in general nowadays are horrible little people. mechwarrior doesnt seem nearly as bad as other games but give that time. wait until you have 2 team mates shut down on the spawn and refusing to play because you suggested to go to a certain point on the map. ill give you a hint what they are raging at - being bad at the game.

I had been praying for a mechwarrior mmo for more then 10 years now. I had never played an mmorpg before and they never really appealed to me, but alas, I was a major battletech fan. Me and my friends grew up with the mechwarrior games and books, heck I still have a long sleve polo t-shirt you got with mechwarrior 2: mercenaries around here somewhere. Needless to say, we were massive fans of the universe whether it was the books or the various games. When we saw that early trailer (3 years ago now i think?) we were so excited for a new mechwarrior game and it looked amazing.

we started talking about it, how we could be in the universe with our mechs, unit etc. We thought there would be this massive cool other end to the game where we could do planetaries, fight the clans, take part in the history of the universe with thousands of other people and pretty much live the dream we had since we were 10 years old. but now, alas, the true colour of the beast has reared its ugly head.

Even once CW hits, this will not be an MMO. It will be a combat game with some persistent elements and online gameplay. There's a difference.

Im 28 now (almost 29!) and i dont really have the time to play with teams/clans anymore.

I'm amused when people who are still in their twenties think they're suddenly too old for something. FYI, most/all of my clan are 35+. I'm 42. So, no, 28 isn't too old to have a group of folks who play together.

As is, its far too similar to league of legends in both marketing strategy and development. Chasing and grinding numbers that are completely irrelevant to your life.

Look at it logically: games aren't relevant to your life except for the entertainment they bring. No number that can ever be provided will suddenly make any game more visceral unless the number is tied to your RL bank account.

Anyway, nothing anyone can say here is going to make you suddenly have fun. You're obviously not, so I think you're doing the right thing by stepping away. I don't think MWO is "going to the dogs" just because it didn't meet your personal expectations that seem to be based on features that were never announced, but YMMV.

Welcome to the human race. It's not exclusive to gaming, but it is more pronounced on the internet. If you want to see just how terrible non-gamers are, try reading the comments on a typical CNN story.

god, tell me about it. youtube videos aswell :s
i disconnect myself from this nonsense quite well irl so i suppose its more pronounced when i play with the general populace. i suppose actually thats at the crux of what im saying, i dont want to feel like im locked in a game i cant leave (on fear of losing points and therefore being relegated to an even lower league) with people i wouldnt give even a second to otherwise
