I regularly use SSRM's in game, but I also recognise that they currently enable an unfair play style given they always hit centre torso. I have a suggestion for an alternative mechanism through which SSRM's could be used. This would still enable them to be much more accurate than SRM's but it would at least require a degree of skill to use, it will also prevent the automatic hitting to the CT.
Upon pressing and holding the fire button the SSRM TAG laser fires. If you hold the fire button down for 0.5 seconds the missiles fire, they then race along the TAG line, if you can't keep your target illuminated the missiles miss, it also means they will no longer automatically hit centre torso but instead will hit the part of the mech the beam has illuminated at the time of impact.
To summarise:
1) Press fire button and hold down
2) SSRM TAG laser illuminates target
3) If fire button held down for 0.5 seconds missiles launch
4) Missiles fly by wire along the TAG hitting anything illuminated by the TAG

nice idea basically.
Would definitely require more skill.
On the other hand:
Given the speed you have to maintain as a light in combat (especially when lagshield is reduced), you wont have the "time" to hold the target. thats the reason for lights not beeing THAT effective with lasers in closecombat.
So perhaps it reduces the combat-capability a little too much.
