A real life chat filter? If u mean I believe no one has the right to make others listen or watch things offensive to them then yes. But that's law already.
The last part of your post is ridiculously out of touch with reality. As such i'm taking it as baiting and ignoring it.
so how are they forcing you to read what they write, exactly? why are you unable to just disregard what they say, and instead let it haunt you like it actually has an impact in your life?
you are being awfully vague on that point and all too eager to attack my position with accusations of lunacy.
in fact, your entire argument thus far has been "make them stop because i dont like what they're saying"

Original poster, the request for a profanity filter should be sent to the suggestions board. Although I recall something about it being in the works but on a back-burner.

truly it is only the spectators that realize the idiocy of the argument

you would be correct. as the game becomes more attractive to prospective customers the enforcement of rules will increase in parallel.
however we get so many of these useless threads because nobody bothers to use the search function, I thought I would have some fun instead

How exactly can u not read what they write? As I stated before and other players have screamed over and over. This is a team based game u must coordinate. Chat and voice r the only ways.
So unless a person is going to quit they must read what is written in chat.
When someone is trying to relax and play a game why should they have to deal with offensive language? And if they find it offensive would it not impact their experience regardless of them trying to ignore it?
Exactly what am I being vague about?
Your entire argument has been deal with it or quit.

if it's not relevant I tune it out

but why can't you disregard it? if some loony is preaching on a soapbox in the park, he's not forcing you to listen to him.

when i'm trying to relax and someone is doing something I don't like, I either ask them politely to stop, go somewhere else, or just plain ignore them. it's really not that hard. as far as finding it offensive, I don't find words offensive because words lack substance. If i went to the bowling alley and walked in on a bunch of old people *******, then yes i would be offended and would probably have to seek counseling in the form of a large bottle of alcohol

why other people must stop doing what they want to appease your emotions
Nightcrept, on 27 February 2013 - 07:24 PM, said:
no it has not. much like your inability to ignore others, you view what I have to say as an attack on yourself because you're intolerant of others.
and actually on that note, where are the mods? they should have sunk this thread by now. I'm going to call it a day, punch my card on the trolling clock and finish a few episodes of LOGH before bed.
but seriously, you shouldn't get so upset on the internet, it's about as unhealthy and meaningful as road rage.

Your ability to tune things out is admirable but not the norm. While many people can to some extent ,constant harassment generally denigrates game experience.
As for your question. Why must people force other people to read words they know they find offensive?
And if that has not been your argument then your not explaining yourself well. Because that is how your coming across.

Why don't we censor all **** as well then? Imagine what would happen if your 11 year old would walk by when you were watching ****. What's that? You don't watch adult material when your 11yo could walk by? Well why are you playing online games that are rated Teen when your 11yo is around? Don't blame the game for the exposure, blame yourself.
Your point is invalid.
Leave the trolling to the professionals.
Everyone takes digs at each other or will tease a bit.. but if you cant be a gracious winner and a classy loser, then you are just a loser.
profanity filter? neg.. give me a report feature that PGI will actually enforce, however, good luck with that.

I also understand those that think there should be an easier way to report people who do offend so Ill add that in as well.
If you want to see it in then second the post in the suggestions forum

I'd rather have it properly implemented.
Block out a whole sentence if it includes profanity and is switched on. Like don't even have it show up for others. Otherwise the point of a filter is moot for people whose problem is reading swear words or other profanity or sexual references. Also this way children wouldn't see a starred out word in a sentence and get curious what that word might have been. Children aren't dumb.
In addition an all out ignore function to ignore the babbling of certain players in chat or prevent getting matched with or against them at all would be fabulous.
On that behalf: There is an ignore list in the social tab. Is that just for friend invites or for chat aswell?
As far as reporting goes there should be an easy one click button besides a players name in post match screen that takes you to a reporting form that let's you select what you report him for and automatically has the server attach a chat and action log to the report.
