So... about 23000 people joined (23% increase) since closed beta was announced, but only about 9000 people already registered on the forums have logged in since that period. Assuming the beta keys are distributed to people who have logged in and filled out the system and user information fields in the last week, then, statistically, about 62% of the people who got beta keys have little-to-no idea of how the game has been developing, or perhaps any interest in it besides there being beta keys available.

I find that disheartening.

If Beta Keys were distributed to only the last 31000 people to join then yes, on average it could be that 62% of people have not been following the game development.

While this is disheartening for you, the core of the current gaming market has not heard of Mechwarrior in its decade long absence. Wouldn't you want to gauge the reaction of the majority?

Granted there are no guarantees that Beta keys were distributed in such a manner, so I wouldn't get too down on yourself.

Why is it that belonging to the 0.457% Club, seems to leave one feeling 100% left out in the Cold?

It's because we spend most of our time talking to each other and giving the lurkers something new (ish) to read

Real interesting data. I don't post much, but I do read a LOT. I log in probably every other day on average to check up on things. I was out of town for memorial weekend, and when I came back there was all this beta talk. I'm not sure how many posts I have, until I post this.

It isn't much. I know that. I would love to beta test this, for sure. I alpha tested Battlefield 3, and submitted probably 50 bug reports.

Thanks for the picture, I find it interesting that comstar hpc channel is actually something java made.

You have no idea how hard I facepalmed when I first saw that (in a Skynet kind of way). Still do not care much for anything Java although other Sun products are decent.

I don't know if it is depressing or what, that I'm part of such a small "minority" in those statistics.

.01% isnt bad, imagine if you were the .01% when it came to C-Bills, you would be dishing out the contracts and truly owning the I.S. ;)

Oh Em Gee... If Disco repair costs indicate you can have a disco ball hanging in your cockpit in addition to a hula girl, well, now I know what my $80 worth of in-game currency will go towards!

Edited to add: Upon further thinking it probably, sadly, means disconnect. :-(

What kind of software did you use in your calculations Hawkeye72?

This is certainly very interesting.
As one of those 14,000 or so members who have less than 100 posts it is mostly because I only say things if I have something to add.

I'll keep my eyes open for opportunities to breach into the exclusive group of high-profile members--however for now my surprising lack of battletech knowledge keeps me at bay.
(And I thought myself quite the avid fan...Oh the Irony.)

Wrote my own program to gather the intel for me, and that is all I will say to avoid Comstar shutting me down
