Game Fps And Your Performance

I just want to recap on what the difference is between playing with 5-15 FPS and 30+ fps.
Last November I started playing MWO on my laptop which is a decent machine and most games do tend to run very smoothly on it with 30+ fps on medium settings. Some specs:
- i5 2nd gen(2 cores) on 2,4 GHz, boosts to 3,2
- GeForce GT 550m with 2Gb of memory
- 8Gb RAM
As we all know even on the lowest possible settings this will give you 5-15 FPS (15 if you are not seeing too many objects, 5-10 most of the time). Now I was playing on this system for 3 months until late January and my KD ration was at ~0.7 maybe less with ~750 games played. Not something to be proud of, not that I am ashamed of it either. Note that I am pugging 80% of the time.
I've decided to build my own PC and here is what I've assembled(non-relevant components are omitted):
- i5 3rd gen(4 cores) on 3.4 GHz
- GeForce GTX 660Ti with 2Gb of memory
- 8Gb RAM
With this configuration the game runs on 1920x1080, highest detail settings with ~50-60 FPS with occasional drops, but never gets below 30 FPS.
The result from this upgrade was that suddenly all my mehcs became much better! I was able to land most of my PPC shots, which I wasn't able to do before. ACs & SRMs became effective on moving targets and overall predicting where a target would go became piece of cake! It was incredibly different feeling, it was like someone took off my shackles. As a result from this my KD ratio started to improve dramatically. Today is exactly one month after I got the system: KD ration got to ~1.3 in ~1100 games from ~0.7 in ~750 games, which is a staggering improvement, considering the amount of games I played!
Thank you for reading this, even if you just read this last line! Just wanted to share my experience and hopefully help someone to improve their performance!
P.S. Excuse my English!

icore5 ivy bridge quad 3,1 Ghz
radeon 7770 1GB
4GB ram
i play on on 1920*1080 on medium details and with the fps around 35-60 never had it below 35 (unless the fps bug ofc) and most of the time fps is on 45-50 the only time it drops below this is in some extreme fights... like 1v8 as last man standing (damn that was terible)
i can play it even on highest setting but the fps drops to 25-40

Pentium Dual-Core E2200 @ 2.2GHz
3GB RAM @ 667MHz
GeForce 8600 GT
Performance is pretty much what you'd expect but, since the latest game optimizations, MWO runs so well on my old rig that I might just wait until Q4 2013 or Q1 2014 to build a new one.
I'm kinda waiting for the GTX 700 series and Haswell.
Anyway, I play with a resolution of 768x480 and still get 23FPS on average, though sometimes it drops down to 18FPS ir even lower when there's a lot of stuff going on in-game.
In my knowledge, this is the worst rig which is (disputably) capable of running MWO.
I used to get 15-30FPS on a laptop.
My current KDR is 1.89 (up from 0.7 in closed beta if memory serves me right) and WLR is 0.57.
I pug and premade about 50/50.

I use a fairly similar setup with a GT 550M (it's quad core i5 and 4GB RAM though) but I get much better FPS. Are you on 1080p? I can't run 1080p so I run on 720p with anti-aliasing off and have the screen stretched to 1366x768 as a kind of poor man's anti-aliasing. I usually run all on low but medium shadows. Also, driver version seems to have some effect. My performance has been:
- Before the April 2nd patch, on driver version 9.18.13.623 (30/08/2012): 50-55 fps (fine)
- After the April 2nd patch, on driver version 9.18.13.623 (30/08/2012): 45-50 fps! (okay)
- After the April 2nd patch, on driver version 9.18.13.1422 (14/03/2013): 20-25 fps!!! (bearable, just)

Did rolling back actually work?

It took it back to the mid-level (45-50 FPS) not to the way it was before the MWO patch. I used the Windows "Roll Back Driver" feature, I'm on Windows 7.
As far as I know, I wasn't on the driver that is mentioned in the patch notes either before or after.

Haven't tried the laptop in the past 2 months, but the reason you are getting higher FPS is that you have a Quad core processor. Why there is such big difference, well ask PGI...
