The answer, the only answer that works, is to reduce our choice of mechs to 1 light, 1 medium, 1 heavy and 1 assault. They must all look exactly the same - absolutely no variations to their shape, so that all their hitboxes are also exactly the same.
No one mech can have an advantage over any other mech - which means either all mechs can load ECM or none can, whatever.
All mechs must be so completely balanced that all there is between them is pilot skillz...
