Because I prefer to play my Founders and Hero mechs primarily for the bonuses.

I do not use color/camo simply because I can not see my mech in game (and no, I do not want third person view).

Isn't the real reason because we all got black and white from PC gamer?

In the future when we know what map we will drop on you'll turn on snow for winter maps and black for everything else.

Why do you need other colors?

I think I don't buy paints and camos because I can't justify the cost when I would rather have another Mech (so I can't justify the Cbill cost) or more Mechbays for those Mechs (so I can't justify the MC cost). I suppose once I have every Mech in the game that I might finally start buying paints and camos.

I've bought some colors for My phract, want to buy some for My jenner, but I'm holding out for a paint sale. If PGI did a half-off sale on all colors, or a special primary color sale (red, green, blue, Etc), I'd drop several thousand MC right there.
Until then, I just paint up My mechs with what I've already got.

Getting an awesome paint job makes you a bigger target. I usually want to kill those guys first, and the logic is simple also; you think your mech is good enough to warrant a paint job so you must know how to play it. Is that the case always? I don't know, but I like to shoot first and ask questions later.

Even when not in thermal the visuals can be so 'Brown Gritty Military Shooter' that cool paints and designs can rarely be appreciated.

This is true a good amount of the time. I'm only a ok pilot, but my paint jobs seem to attract more attention then default greenies..

I also will target painted mechs first, assuming that they are more dangerous.

I thought you used Heat Vision almost all the time. How do you see paint jobs if you are using heat vision, are on Alpine at 2000+ meters, if you are on a night map, or if the target is hiding among buildings?

Me thinks the Lady doth protest too much.

(For those so inclined, ys I know I have slightly misused the quote, but it still works)

I like to apply Camo jobs,
although, as others said, it is useless on most maps, due to thermal vision.
Which is, why on most mechs my Camo paint is more aimed at Caustic valley than at any other map
(with the exception of a few mechs where i have the Camo Paint just to show off  )

It is a pity that you have to apply your Camo in the Mech Hangar and therefore cannot see what effect it has in the environment for which it is intended.
I hope they change it as soon as they allow us to do Camo Paint for different environment types (something that has been announced)
