What Awesome Variant?

I enjoy playing the K-2 in a fire-support role, so I was thinking the ones with 3x PPC's would be good. But overall which chassis is better than the others?
Any and all info is appreciated.

If you want to boat PPCs, the 9M or the 8Q are good choices. The 8R is probably the best straight up brawler of the bunch.

If not, and since you stated you like direct fire support, go 8Q.
A halfway point on the road to missiles is the 8V, and if you really enjoy that, then the Hero Awesome may be for you.
9M or 8Q I'd say to start. Choose your poison (and remember, they can take a 300 Std engine now).

My two favorites right there, depending on whether or not I want to run an XL.

I don't plan on buying the Pretty Baby myself. The 400XL engine you can put in it is horribly inefficient, the 9M runs great with an 350XL and the 8Q is great with a 300STD. Some people love it I guess, but PB's hardpoints look awful to me.

I've Mastered the 9M, 8R, 8Q and am have finished elite on the 8V and 8T
of these the one I liked the least was the 8T. Here are my current builds in a nutshell
9M: 3LLas 3ASRM4
8Q: 4LLas 3 MLas
8R: 2ERPPC 2ALRM15 2SSRM2 TAG or 1ERPPC 3ALRM15 1ASRM6 TAG
8V: 2ERPPC 1ALRM15 2SSRM2 TAG
8T: 2ERPPC 2ALRM15 TAG
My current favorites are the 8R and the 8V

with 1 or 2 ppcs youll get the most out of them by being able to fire constantly, while allowing for a lot more in terms of secondary weapons
I personally rarely use more than 1 ppc\ER on any given mech

The 8Q is a ton of fun for triple PPCs, but it's really hard to make other loadouts that work with nothing but energy hardpoints. I see a lot of people running 4-5 PPC 8Qs, but that's a mistake imo- the burst damage isn't worth the trade for sustained fire. You can mount a 300Std engine, 3 PPCs, and get a 1.51 heat efficiency with maxed armor, so even on Caustic you can keep hitting when other people are shutting down.
I wouldn't recommend the 8T. There just aren't enough hardpoints to really make it worthwhile- it's essentially a glorified Hunchback 4SP, with 2 energy hardpoints in the arms, and one missile slot per torso. No matter how you slice it you wind up with marginally better damage and armour than the 4SP, but at the cost of serious speed- you don't do much above 70 even with speed tweak. LRMs are a pretty iffy prospect right now as well, unless you run with a premade. Even if you can get into an even LRM duel, you're packing at most 2xLRM 20, but more likely 2xLRM 15, and since your torso is the widest in the game you won't win that fight.

well it depends you said you wanted to fire ppcs?
if you want to use 4xPPC you can do that with the 8Q. fill it up with sinks i guess
for 3xERPPC 9m is better, than 8Q, but not for more or for less. unless you're boating lasers.
with the 8T you don't even want PPC because they would be mounted on both arms as main weapons..
best to go lasers with this variant.
8R is the missile variant, you can make a boat or a "splawtsome" an 8R with 4srm6
8V is also has hardpoints for 3xsrm6 and several energy so it could be your cup of tea if you want to use those missile slots - they're good on this model because of how they all come out of the same torso, or so i hear.

Stay away from PB, 9M is superior to it in every way. Some will argue 5 extra kph is worth it isn't. The hardoints are just unworkable. It's the worst 30 $ you can waste.
