About Alpine.. I actually like it. Although I think a slight reduction in its scale could be a nice choice. As it is now it's too big and you use only one fraction of the total area.

Alpine is wonderful and awesome and the best map ever. Every map should be as big and wonderful as Alpine instead of the claustrophobic clusterfrags of River City and the like. Anyone who says Alpine is horrible is wrong and their opinion on the matter is invalid because it does not coincide with mine which is the only opinion that matters. So there.
More big maps, please. Bigger than alpine!

I don't mind River City night as long as we don't get it too often. I usually use thermal vision in the beginning and then switch to night vision. I actually like night vision, at least more than thermal.
I hate Frozen City because of the snowstorm. Because I really loathe thermal optics and that map can be horrible in visuals.

The normal night vision is horrendous and I can't see anything with it. I've met a handful of people on Teamspeak who say they try to use night vision on RCN, but every else uses thermals all the time.
So basically it's not even another map... it's just river city, but force everyone to be in thermal.
There you go.
I notice already the unpopular maps are the ones where you can't see properly, and are forced into thermals (RCN, and Frozen City daytime / haze / snowstorm).

It's not the heat. That can get annoying, but I don't really mind. It's the disgusting lack of cover. Too many places where you can get caught out in the open with no chance to get under cover before getting chewed up. And the slopes seem custom-made for LRMs. An LRM boat or a spotter catches sight of you and on most maps, if you're playing smart, there's some kind of cover you can get behind to block the incoming barrage. On Caustic, the tops of the hills are rounded and the slopes seem to perfectly conform to the diving angle on the missiles, so it often doesn't matter where you move, especially now with the decay module. Even Alpine is better, despite the wide open spaces. At least the cover that is there works as cover.
I actually like RCN. It looks great in standard vision, and there's actually a lot of places you can see without enhanced vision. But I guess mainly it's because I'd been playing 90%+ in thermal long enough before it came out that I can see just fine and plenty of people can't.

The sun not being up makes it night... Kinda the defining characteristic of night.
It's not brighter, just clearer. If you don't understand the brightness, you must never have been out in the snow at night. I've kind of been wondering lately if the white haze in Frozen City Day is actually supposed to be snow (blizzard) or if it's supposed to represent the glare off all the snow/ice on the ground (snow blindness).

Could use some more clutter
there are some areas you get stuck horribly in
and some areas should not be passable without JJs. You're in a freaking atlas.. you're not known for your maneuverability, quit walking/running up the 70 degree slope.
But map I like the least, Frozen City (one side gets made almost absolutely blind.. and the other- not so much,)

The map is nice and the scale is impressive, but there are just to wide open expanses for a short range Mech to use safely. I cannot wait to have the funds to buy a medium or heavy Mech. Long range helps survival.

The worst map to me hands down is Frozen City, followed by Frozen City Night.
And given the choice I actually would only play on 4 maps, Alpine, Caustic, River City and River City night.
