Been reading a few forum posts about how much people hate cheese builds but personally I don't see the problem, if you can't deal with such a one dimensional build thats your problem.

BUT

There is nothing worse in my experience so far than a splatcat player who doesn't know how to play, I'm not great which is maybe why the games I play are like this but I just played 3 games where the guy with the cat was splatting everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.

You know the guy, the one who has read about it and thinks 'everyone else is doing it so....' then jumps in and just spams it regardless of who is in front of him.

If you are that player: SRM 6's are not precision weapons so don't shoot it when you team mates are in your line of sight. They will get annoyed when they see 3 SRM's fly past them into the bad guy and see a massive red icon showing that the other 33 hit him.

The last game I had a clever enemy commando spotted a splatcat so simply stood infront of the rest of my team confident in the knowledge that while he will take a load of damage, our team gets it far worse.

Anyone else been experiencing this recently?

Hi, my name is Banky... and I'm a bad splatcat pilot. I know this because a teammate told me so last night. He said I was "useless" because I kept running behind buildings and hiding from the bad guys instead of fighting them face to face... Well, he's right. I did. I finished the game with only 6 kills and 700pts of damage but our team still won 8-6 (whew). But don't worry - I'll keep trying and I'll get better some day...

6 kills, doing only 700 damage using SRMs.

So what you're saying is you ran around hiding until there was a kill-shot to be claimed?

He probably just shot most of them in the back. Most non-assault mechs (minus the raven) die in pretty much one hit from the back if you can get most of the missiles to connect.

Not just the splatcat...
but i've found something worse... A LRMStalker doing full salvoes to our back torsos.
not one... not two... three of our own got red torsos after a gentle but unasked thai massage from this "friend"

I'm not talking 'bout a blue-on-blue with a brawler or a careless friendly caught crossfired.
Im talking about a stalker firing, seeing that 20-30% of its LRM end on our backs, 50% more, splatted on a ridge on Alpine....launching againg... and again..
And the 3 of us telling him to stop on team chat....

Could it be worse?

Don't stand in front of the LRMs.

If you're being hit by friendly LRMs, that's on you. LRMs won't do damage inside 180m, so you can't blame the odd walking in front of the launch.

If you're getting hit by friendly LRMs:
STOP FACE HUMPING THE TARGET

To be fair I agree with the LRM bit too, WAY too many people just go 'LOOK RED TRIANGLE' then press the fire button, not caring that it may be 1 red with 3 blues so chances are the missiles are going to hit your own team.

I was in my Jenner tangling with a Stalker and an Atlas, both near pure LRM builds.

I went for the Stalker as the Atlas launched. Result as I cowered behind the poor stalker the atlas's missiles landed, about 3 volleys worth. Blew the stalker in half and down to deep red CT structure.

I killed it with a pair of small lasers and went after the Atlas....who didn't last much longer, trying to LRM at 50 meters.

....It can get pretty bad.

If there is a splatcat and me fighting one enemy in close quarter, I'll gladly hand the fight to it and help my team with another threat rather than staying in the way.

It's almost ALWAYS an option.

The odd time you face hump a PPC boat. In this case then yes, there's not much you can do except either face hump or find cover.

But you can't tell me that 9 times of 10 it's someone face humping because they either want the kill, are boating SRMs, or can't shoot very well.

Like the previous bro said. Stop trying to fill enemy Mech holes with your laser and ballistic weapon barrels.Mechorgasm is myth anyway. Keep your distance and you won't get LRM slapped.

Yes, because 4PPC boats are uncommon? Not recently, I've seen 4 PPC Cats, Phracts, Awesome, Stalkers, and Atlases a lot more often than not recently.

Yeah I love being called a coward/bady by my teammates because I was running around capping bases and staying hidden while they all walked out in to the open and died to LRM's and snipers, then they start trash talking me as I kill 4-6 enemies to win the match as they trickle back to their base one and two at a time

Ive had 3 one shot kills on fresh mechs in the same game, good 6 pack pilots work their way in undetected kill 1-2 enemy mechs and fade back into the shadows to do it again somewhere else. The lower a 6packs damage and the higher their kill count the better they are, typically. There are the ones chain firing in to an enemy mech at 240+ who manage to steal the kill with the one missile that does hit, and of course the enemy mechs that just will not let you have their back (looking at you centurions) and force you to blow their arm off, then their other arm then the LT then the RT before you get at the gooey goodness of their CT.

It is amazing how much damage 2 "friendly" AC 20s can do to the back of my cicada 6 seconds after a match starts. This has happened to me at least 5 time. I know I kindof go all overer the place, but thats the point of the mech. All i ask is that when I clearly in front of you and have been for quit some time and there are no other mechs on screen, please don't shoot me, I'm not that tough to begin with.

Haha yeah - LRM friendly fire isn't quite as annoying as flamer friendly fire because at least lurmboats are contributing a little, but srsly ppl watch where you're shooting those things.
