Some people who posted on this thread will not openly say they will be the ones who care about their KD ratio and will do unsportsmanlike actions to preserve said KD ratio.

As this is the internet and this is a shooter, you will inevitably have mongrels like them. There is nothing you can do about that, whether stats or public or not. OP even said himself that he's noticed people disconnecting early to preserve KD and stats aren't even public right now.

Having said all that, the best you can do is keep playing the way you want to and ignore them as much as possible. I personally don't care if stats are public or not but I would prefer the option to hide one's stats from the public for a number of reasons.

I like stats myself, but only as a measure to which I compare my own performance to what I think is good: my own standards. I don't care about others stats or those in the top leaderboard because I already know what their stats will be and what they pilot, for the most part anyway.

So in conclusion, douches will be around whether you like it or not, make an option to hide stats from the public and keep on playing like how you want to play (unless you're one of the aforementioned degenerates, shame on you)

Everyone can see my stats, no problem. They suck. I grew out of any serious ePeen envies when I turned 20. Or was it with 30? Maybe 40 even? Well, whatever, I don't care any more.

It seems you just wanted to express derision for those who aren't supportive of your opinion by making a list full of implied insults. How would me having a choice to share/hide my stats have any affect at all on your enjoyment of them game?

I am not given to massive reactionary spasms, but news about consumables really made my heart sink. They should be emulating the League of Legends / Dota 2 model, not the world of tanks. They aught to be aware that their game is too niche to be scaring away casual players like that. Best case they are cheap and easily affordable, and they are a stupid addition that takes away from the competitive purity of MWO. Worst case, it will generate some income, and they will say "Hey, what a great idea this was," not realizing that they killed a golden goose of a community for a few ****** coppers from the people who were going to pay money anyway.

I think the general tenor of these forums shows that the really vocal portion of the community simply cannot handle public stats. I think more bad will come from this than good.

I have no problem with them but if people want them private it should be a simple option to not register oneself on a leaderboard. Once registred you are there.

Consumables will be the bane of my existence. I dont think it will come to P2W, but it will be really dumb when my company is all taking cover and hiding, and a single commander in a light mech is able to spot us and bring down hell around us when he normally wouldn't on his own.

Global stats are not a concern. CoD kiddies and other chumps will wave their dicks around about their K/D ratio, while the rest of us real Mechwarriors will be content in knowing it holds no real meaning.

We already saw people DCing to preserve their precious KDR, even before KDR was made public. Pushing stats even more is just going to make things worse. More min/maxing, more exploiting of whatever loopholes currently exist, etc. Even worse, they will make aspects of the game that are poorly captured with stats ( such as base capping in conquest, or tag'ing, etc ) even less appealing.

Nope. Won't be any worse than now.

You cannot loop hole anything to the stats in a proper match.

The only way to pad stats now is to have lots of people, with throw away alt accounts and trying to sync drop together to pad the stats of the other accounts.

Even if people do that, who cares?
