PS: In another game someone did the same for me and boy was I freakin grateful (he/she actually put their Catapult in between me and the enemy in order for me to back off and recover (the player killed the enemy mech); I was critical in the torso's and internal on an arm). Mega Kudos to that player :)

Hmm, I wonder if one can implement a "Taking one for the team" XP reward?

I like that you can get the savior kill bonus without actually killing anyone. Just throwin' that out there.

Feels good man.

I have a KDR of 0.52. I have no desire to discourage allies from helping me while my Raven is being pummeled by the brawler that singled me out (or have a lancemate do likewise); all so I can have the chance at a kill to raise my KDR.
Most of the time it's 8-man focus fire anyway, so you can't really say that the kill was guaranteed to anyone.

That would actually be something interesting to look at. No C-Bill bonus, just XP and lets say like 50-100 would be decent. Good stuff :)

Ksing dose not exist in this game. Focus fire is the name of the game. If a teammate helps you put down a mech not only has he done his job as a good teammate but he has saved you armor dmg, ammunition, and heat expenditure that you can use to bring your guns to bare on another mech. After saying all this, those kill hungry teammates that will "shoot through" a friendly mech to score a kill or ingore a massive threat, like an undamaged DDC, to kill of a mech with no guns on it are doing it wrong as well. To be good at this game one has to divorce him or herself from the blood lust of always scoring the "kill shot" and focus more on being being useful to the team. You will win more. I promise

First of all one shouldn't bother all too much about Kill Stealing in a Teambased game.

On the other hand though getting 7500 CBills and 150 XP for dealing the last 5ish damage needed for a kill on a mech seems off to me aswell. If I had to implement it I'd had added a minimum damage threshold. Not sure how much though because on the other hand it would suck to not get the saviour bonus for taking out a almost untouched splatcat that is marchin through your team by a well placed headshot. Maybe taking the damaged component into account aswell.

Not sure how to handle.

Who cares. So long as the guy is dead. However, if you are on teamspeak with me, I will give you crap for "Stealing my lunch" and if I end up getting the kill I will say something like "Thank you for that tasty meal" or the like.

my single prupose in this game is "Kill stealing" its the sole reason that im there !
im a wang ! ill take care of my assaults like they soak up the incomming dammage for me!
Their rear is guarded by my mighty ac/20, their chosen targets feel the wrath of my 2 medium lasers
and if the behemoth´s of battle stand there, overheated and exhausted, im there to finish the job they have so
fearlessly started, to apply the mercy stroke to those who dared to oppose us

i am a Killstealer !
i am WANG

I've seen premades sit back and let the noobs wear down the enemy before attacking. Then roll in, blast the weakened opfor and crow about how good they are and that their teammates suck.

Actually the noobs do suck if they can't tell that their team mates are not advancing and they go ahead and take on the other team. stick together, if the premades hang back, then hang back, eventually they will have to fight.

What a ridiculous statement. It rewards team work, The cash and especially XP boost at the end of a match is nice but I do not notice it in match and am far too busy trying to survive and kill the enemy to be thinking about that sort of thing. If I see a team mate engaged with an enemy I will run to help, if I see a heavily damaged but still combat effective mech when in a light I will try to finish him off because that is the most effective way to help my team win with my reduced firepower.

If you sit at the back waiting for every one to be crit before engaging to sweep up the kills (and I have seen people do this on rare occasions) chances you are going to be too outnumbered to win anyway because your team was fighting a man down so the tactic is generally counter productive.

As others have harshly pointed out; if you're concerned about KS, you're concerned about the wrong thing.

You describe cowardly as, "people hiding behind the entire team and comes out only to KS"...but this can also be said about any support role mech.

The goal is to wipe out the other team before they can wipe you out KDR doesn't really amount to anything.

sure - support mechs are cowards   B)

Oddly I had to read the patch notes for tomorrow at IGN. We all have to deal with people hiding behind the entire team and comes out only to KS. This Savior bonus seems to reward KS.

With the launch of the patch you'll get a Savior Kill bonus if you down an opponent who was attacking a teammate with a critical component at less than 50% health and a Defensive Kill bonus if you kill or attacked a killed enemy mech that was attempting to capture your base. Both of these bonuses net you 7,500 CBills (the in-game currency) and 150 experience What you guys and gals think? Am I reading it wrong?

Edit:
Josef Nader explained very good and I was thinking the target mech below 50%. My bad and thanks again Josef .

Was playing last night and the Savior bonus seemed to be rewarded to anyone who hit an enemy mech within 10 seconds of it's death if it had recently scored a crit. Seems fair to me and rewards anyone who has enough sense to shoot dangerous enemy mechs. I was consistently getting 20K or more in C-bill bonuses with only 1-2 kills per game

KDR 2.58 and please, do steal my kills. Actually I beg you. Just dont leave me alone with multiple enemies. That KDR is not from mastery(oh god no) but from desperation. I`m happy being alive with 0 kills and many assists, more than being dead with 3.

If you can get a team kill and a savior kill with the same volley, it would be pretty sweet.

Kill them all and let God sort them out, eh?

Headshots on splatcats are their own reward... no extra cbills or XP needed. Just keep em coming.

This is a pretty nice incentive to encourage focused fire and teammates staying together in general. I think it was a really good idea on PGI's part.

I got 4 savior bonuses in one match last night.

I must be the best kill stealer ever.

I think when people refer to killstealing in this game they mean the ***hole with 2 gauss rifles waiting for someone to be at orange core and taking the kill from 700m. Hell my 3D phract with 2 gauss and 4 med lasers can take basically any potential kill I can see. That being said I'm in line with the people praising this, encouraging team play is always good. Can't tell you the amount of times I've been saved by the cavalry when I've swapped all my armor with someone who caught me off guard. There will always be the troll/***** who only cares about kills, or even worse a "skilled" player who feels entitled to every kill because they are superior to the so called nub who has almost killed a particulary opponent, this happens in every game(Gears of War is a good example).

I run my K2 as a second line support build. It's not a brawler, and I don't have enough long range weapons on it to play as a dedicated sniper. I'm that guy behind the front line, but in front of the LRM support. I put rounds on target as often as I can, helping the front line burn down the push. Sometimes I get a kill, most of the time I don't. I look at kills as a team effort. At the end of the match, as long as we get the win, I don't care if I have 0 kills and 7 assists. This new mechanic just means I'll occasionally get a bonus on my paycheck....

i agree i always end up with no kills and a lot of assists after running about and digging at everything as much as i can so this is a little reward for those who put in the effort to help imo
