I like the laser noise. It's especially useful for knowing audibly when they've more or less recharged, and I think it adds a lot to my pewpewing.

If I have to, I'd pay MC to get the old laser recharge sound back.

I'd rather they just undo it, but some people like the new sound, so I vote give them an option. Since things don't always work that way, I figure it'd be something we could modify.

I mean modify as in, we can purchase a different sound, or something. If I was more inclined of getting myself banned, I might look in the sounds.pak and see if I can just redirect the "MEDIUMLASERRECHARGE.WAV" to the old one, but...I'm not sure how to compile it. I could theoretically try my Crysis pak editor (free Crysis SDK stuff) but I'm not about to void my account just to see if the old sound file is still there / accessible.

Either way, the new one just sounds like a toy, like a low-budget effect from some sci-fi b-movie from the 50's/60's.

It does not sound like a weapon of war, an instrument of death, etc.

Please tell me the pulse laser is still the same ?

Anyway, from that vid posted , the recharge sound for 1 comes in too early imo, and also goes down the scale instead of up.

Make it go up scale instead of down and it would at least sound like its gaining charge or something instead of draining it.

To me it also seems like the wrong type of sound for a recharge, it needs a less high pitched , slightly crackled noise.

The pulse lasers recharge sounds much better, or did if they haven't been changed. It went up scale instead of down.

I actually really like it. Not only does it provide more feedback on the state of your weapon than before (i.e. you know about when you can fire it again) but I think it sounds powerful and industrial, like a battlemech should.

On you first point, I don't think anyone has a problem with a sound giving a reference point for re-fire rate.

On your second point, its obviously subjective, though I'd be saying you need your hearing or speakers checked.

For me, it doesn't sound like its "in" the environment - it sounds remarkably high-pitched, and to be frank, unlikely. I've never heard any charging equipment hum with the power of....liquidising humming birds.

at first i thought it sounded goofy

after a night of drops, well, you don't really notice it when you're in combat, so whatever

I think they did it so Raven 3L and Jenner pilots will know when to spam their lasers again whilst running around at 150kph. Don't really see how it benefits people in most mechs.

I just wish it was quieter!

It's very quiet unless you fire all of your 8 lasers at once. Y'know, sound loudness adds up with simultaneous instances.

I don't mind it. I'd like to keep some kind of recharge sound for the lasers, even if the one we have now is removed.

A simple single chime tone that we can adjust and or turn off in the Options menu would be nice.

Yeah, stick my tenbux down for it staying. I like the noise, adds a nice audio cue for when I can FIREMALAZORZ again. :)
