I tried this out last night with my laser heavy mechs playing from WA on a steady ping of 317 and it seemed to work great. Especially had fun in my Jenner with 6 medium lasers picking on other light mechs. Great work network coding peoples!

Hiya Past, I'll add you on in MWO, it's good to get another local on. Seems like 300ms ping is the norm here out West.

I think I might not have experienced much in the way of lag in that I need to lead my targets, but yeah targeting lights that are teleporting everywhere is 100% impossible, best is use SSRMs or just splat with SRM and hope for the best.

You got me earlier this evening in your Treb and LRMs Jay Kerensky! :)

In my defence you were trying to kill me

I'm from Perth, and I don't think my experience has changed that much, I find that I still have to compensate for lag - my ping's usually around high 280s- 300, 310s-320s. Seems to be missing a lot more now for some reason, and still have to aim in front of lights to hit them.

I'm not sure whether I'm just having a bad day or something, I don't think so because just yesterday, my mech was stuck in a rubberbanding hell when trying to navigate my way around in my A1.

That's cos you're 3 hours behind us other mechs ;)

Great! Now we don't need any other servers splitting up the community!

It's so nice to not have to always resort to Streaks, mad props to the team on this update.

It's so crazy going into testing grounds and using a SRM/Ballistic 'cause when you click, the weapon fires instead of waiting then firing. I'm so jealous of all the yanks

Dear PGI,

Just letting you know that the State Rewind for lasers is working very well here in Australia (for myself anyway). After 5 games running a Jenner at full speed I am over 93% accuracy and my damage count for the game is much better than previously.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!

Now I feel that I can now aim for the damaged areas on mechs and really add my value to the team.

On another note I have seen a bunch of ravens getting totally owned in game as well.

I am not quite sure what of the 2 above statements brings a bigger smile on my face!

Cheers!!!!!!
Eboli

Edit: typo

Glad to hear the game is playing better for you. We have a few Aussies in our Clan, so I was wondering if this would help the problems they were experiencing. Good to know it is working. :)

Although I'm not in Kangaroo-Country I have to say this patch improved things for me as well. I finally managed to find time for a match or two last night, and I immediately noticed my accuracy with the 4 medium lasers and 2 large lasers on my STK-3F Stalker had improved drastically. It was _so_ much easier to actually hit and damage what I was targeting it was like night and day, so it looks like this patch improved things for those of us stuck here in the north of Europe as well even if our pings aren't as bad as what the Aussies have been forced to deal with (normally somewhere between 120 and 150 for me).

I'd kill for a ping of 150.....just stand in front of these large lasers for a sec will ya?

The state rewind for me is the best thing since sliced raven! I live in Perth WA and have 300ping average and now I have to learn to not lead my laser's anymore thats how bloody good it is!! Thank you so much PGI and thank you for every step you take to make the netcode and hitbox's of mechs better and better.

It seems to work well, although I haven't had the chance yet to try lasering full-speed lights. I wonder what the cut-in, cut-out pings are for this to take effect.

I usually have 290-310 here, I guess it's time to check that it isn't fluctuating too much.

I did seem to have some issues with gauss shots going straight through powered-up mechs, which I haven't seen before. It wasn't the same as the older problem of powered down/fallen over mechs where explosions would show client-side, but no damage done server-side due to teleporting. But in theory this patch shouldn't have changed that.

I live in the US, and I routinely get pings in the 40 MS range or so. I never had to lead my targets by much in most of the lag-shooting days, but I still did have to lead them.

State Rewind has improved things for me as well. Shooting directly at the target generally results in me hitting what I expect to hit, and so far it's been pretty consistent. Well done on the state rewind code, it's working better than all previous networking code so far.

Right... now we just need to move the servers to EU where most of the customers are. Then we don't need other servers.
I am sure we can all agree on this?

I hav a 260 - 290ms ping, with the state rewind my Stalker with 4MPL and a ERLL took out 4 enemy mechs in the first match. So it's working for me and I love it, hope PGI can keep bringing out awesome features like this

I've got about the same ping as Finghaz and Eboli, though sometimes it's as bad as 410. Just had a round in my 4P and did surprisingly well. Now if I could just un-learn to account for lag... ;)

I have been having that same problem! Especially since I still have to account for tons of lag when firing my PPCs. Was playing with a ping of 400 last night and it felt so weird not having to compensate with lasers but having to wait almost half a second for my PPC's to fire.

I await the equivalent solution for ballistics with bated breath. :D

So far, according to the stats, my 7 x MPL HBK has the most damage out of my mechs, with a 75% accuracy rate. I would love to know what that was before HSR, but I know it wouldn't have been that good. Great job PGI, can't wait until the same is done for Ballistic weapons so us Aussies can snipe things moving side to side ;)
