What is everyone's opinion on what 'constructive purpose' really means? There have been multiple threads locked due to lack of constructive purpose and I think that is because there is an issue of deciding what is constructive and what is a group of trolls.

This post is strictly for constructive discussion only.

Constructive=like the consumables.
Not Constructive=don't like consumables.

At least for the last hour or so.

Constructive is this:

And it still needs to be seen more.

I thought that thread we were arguing in was in favor of consumables.

Mood had turned.

This is as aggressive as I have seen the moderators since phase 1.

I would consider the thread they are closing as non constructive because all the threads about not liking consumables are the same repetitive garbage over and over and over and over again. You don't like it fine, they get it, they said it them selves its still in the works, 10000 threads a second isn't going to change anything any faster.

It is quite strange to use "constructive purpose" as a reason for locking threads in the general discussion forum. All this time I thought this was supposed to be the "talk about the game" forum. Apparently it is just the "stroke PGI's ego" forum. My bad.

But there have been some where I thought it was very constructive about how the consumables would decrease the enjoyability of the game. Removing all of them is being less constructive than letting one run free for people to discuss what they find is wrong with it.

Probably because they should have posted in that pinned thread in the first place. I've yet to see some brilliant take on coolant flush or consumables that merited its own thread.

I also think that cramming everyones opinions on everything that could ever be thought of about the topic is less constructive. If they want to be constructive, have multiple group discussions about the different ideas. 'Positive feedback' 'Negative feedback' 'Pros and Cons'. Anything would be better than the single one they have created where anyones opinion gets lost in the shuffle.

Pros and Cons belong together IMO as they are mutually exclusive. Many threads begin out of a sense of self importance from the original poster that their ideas just have to be heard and that they have somehow have insight that no one else has thought of.

And I'm not denying that, the problem is it has been the same thing over and over and over, everybody thinks their point is is new and noteworthy when in fact its all just more of the same, they made a pined topic for just that purpose. Posting a "new" thread every 2 seconds only clutters up the boards.

Shutting down the threads filled with criticism but keeping the hugbox threads open looks fairly shifty to me. If you are going to lock threads because they don't add anything, or because there is already a thread open on it, then don't ignore the "everything is fine, move along" threads. They add even less to these forums and should also be locked. Its hypocritical plain and simple.

Not everyone thinks their point is new, just that it needs to be hammered into PGI's head and shouted as loudly as possible.

This has happened many, many other times. Do you believe Bioware would've made the free Extended Cut DLC if the internet hadn't exploded after Mass Effect 3's release?

Honestly, I'm glad they close some of these threads. Seeing the same thing posted over and over is annoying as far as complaint threads go that are just qq. They have an official place for it take it there (same thing as far as the consumables go). I wish they would combine/close threads more often instead of having 5 LRM qq threads where you basically just type the same thing in each thread. (Yay post padding.)

It would be constructive for you to post in the thread they asked you to post in where all the opinions and information is in one place. It would be unconstructive to continue to make a new thread about the same topic ever ten minutes so when they go to the Devs they have to farm the whole General area and try to remove duplicate posting across multiple threads.

They are trying to use our feedback. Help them help us by putting it in the right area.

After a few people pointed it out, they started locking both kinds of threads...
Its entirely possible that they were only leaving pro-consumable threads open out of an unconcious bias, which once highlighted went away.

They are not. Bryan posted that they are going ahead as planned.

You're welcome! I think most players will enjoy the added tactics and things to do within game. The arty/air strikes play into the scouting role, since they require line of sight targeting until the battlegrid control module comes online.
