I like this. It truly lets us bring in the hawken audience, and since it's on sarna, you know it's legit.

HAHA! Good, so very good.

So I found this interesting bit on SARNA.NET authoritative authority on all things BattleTech LORE:

So, let's have it then!

Have a module that calls in an emergency field repair team. Maybe some sort of automated flying drone. You call it in and it comes flying to you and hovers over your head, and when you power down, it starts repairing your armour. Maybe it repairs like 50% of total max armour. So if you're at 25% armour, it'll repair it to 75%; if you're at 50% it'll repair to 100%. If you're at 0 it'll repair it to 50%.

It wouldn't repair internals, just armour. It'd basically be a Repair Bot, coming to slap some more ablative armour on you.

That it requires you to power down (and leave yourself vulnerable) for a few seconds is a good "weakness".

I'm missing the part where you are interpreting hundreds of hours in repair work as only taking a few seconds.

I just read my first Battletech novel recently, and a 75-ton Marauder required over 100 hours of repairs to fix the damage done to a skirmish with a single 20-ton Wasp.

I truly, honestly believe that such a module has no place a game in which the maximum time for a round is 15 minutes.

So, after 15 minutes of being powered down, do I get to choose where I get my +1 armour, or is it randomised?

I'm all for it.

So long as it takes 15 minutes per point of armor...

Edit: Wait, sorry, we have double armor.

It would need to be 2 points of armor per 15 minutes.

No no no, none of that. One of the nice things about this game is when you get hit it has real consequences for the duration of the game.

While I would not be surprised if something like this actually showed up one day, it definitely would make the game feel less BT.

As I suggested in another thread, bring back rearm & repair as a time sink where the mech is tied up repairing for hours on end, unless you sink R&R C-bills into it to release it instantly.

No to in-battle repairs. Even a full tech team at a facility repair bay needs hours for any extensive armor work.

But, OP, I think some of the concern will be deal with once we have Dropship mode, allowing us to move through 4 consecutive battles with 4 different mechs. For all we know there may be chance for a variation of this mode where we could use the same mech, and between fights it may get repaired to 75%. this would also help those people who own fewer than 4 mechs.

As a light pilot i would abuse the crap out of this so i say NO. mechs are walking tanks once your armour is gone its gone no second chances.

coolant is one thing that I can get behind as they have laid it out (thank you for not being like Mechwarrior 4!), but instant repairs just don't work without breaking the whole goal of being simulation like.
