Motion for locking the thread. How many urbie topics to we really need? Also, for the sake of consistency, other topics are locked for MUCH less.

I read a suggestion that every new pilot be given a free Urbanmech as their first mech. They can then kit it out however they want, or try out trial mechs. It'd be like "Baby's First Space Robot."

I don't think it does so bad in alpline, i've played the spider/urbie there plenty of times. In conquest your not capping.

Most fights there have been at epsilon. It could still take role of defender. Gamma is a urban area, sigma and theta has nice mound defense you can pop tart from. The mounds of epsilon is a pop tart vilage too.

Alone at kappa would/and has been the worst case scenario. And each time its been like a 3 on 1. This is from running a spider urbie and raven urbie.

The valleys between the high mountain in the center road to kappa and theta would be suicidal, but easily avoidable. Running along the ridge lines has been decent cover.

The best runs I've had there is trailing right behind a atlas. The small profile gets alot of mention so real urbie might be smaller. The smaller the more deadly. Ilike this pic I saw today.........and it has a urbie too.

you mad bro? don't think you can easy kill them? you're scared of the truth that being killed by mg is nothing to your pride than an urbie killing you.

it's going to happen and my qq buckets are waiting for the victims of urbie to fill them with their tears to the urban mech gods!

I'm sick of people asking me if 'you mad bro'.
Clinically insane is totaly differant from being 'mad bro' ok? :D

*edit* Urbie's. I hate them. always have always will.

And Urbanmech is designed from the ground up to be a cheap garrison mech and the minimum credible threat that must be accounted for. This is why the Urbanmech primary var carries an AC10 as apposed to a PPC, and a small laser as apposed to flamer to limit secondary property damage. It has the heat capacity in TT to continuously fire, JJ, Run even with just 10 HS. It also has design quirks like large feet to not make pot holes in ferro-crete roads, prevent skidding, etc.
If it was in the game, it would hardly be used except to troll your own team in PUGs and troll PUGs with a lance of 4. By in-game rules it would only be able to have an XL 90, Which would require 7 external Heat sinks. Even DHS would yeld, 3 at 2.0 eff, and 7 at 1.4.

MWO if they did install it into the game could make its inertia like a mech twice it's weight. and when collision come it, it's treated as a 60 toner for purposed of falling.

Don't be jealous of the love. Urbanmechs are deeply loved units that have a lot of history in the game. There's no reason to close this thread as it's positive, it's about a unit that could be put in the game, and it's by and large en large enjoyed.

Just because it's not enjoyed by YOU doesn't me that a lot of people should lose something they like. There are a lot more topics about the clans for example that aren't closed...

hmm dunno, looks like it has an awfully big center torso there to hit. those twin AC20s would just be big bulls-eyes for whatever projectile weapons the other side uses.

the mech looks cool though.

Was looking at the post showing Urbie's big brother, the Jagermech, specifically the JM6-A, and had a dream for a hero Urbie. Mount Endo/ferro, and at least an 120 motor, with commensurate jj upgrade. Swap the 12 ton ac for 12 tons of SRM6s, spread across both arms and torso. Make a mini A1. at the ranges Urbie was meant for, it would be devastating.

Heh.  They should be glad my "Martyr" variant isn't feasible in MWO.  Used one with with ecm back in TT, had SRM4 x8, 4 forward, 4 aft.  1 ton of ammo.  I think I dropped it to around 4 tons of Ferro armor and used Endo, not 100% sure since it's been a decade since I ran my "Urban Death Squad".
Anyhow.  My lance if Urbies would hide in alleys and abandoned buildings, waiting for a nice tasty lance of Panthers to stroll down the street. The Martyr would hide on a rooftop, then when the time was right, jump in the middle of their formation and "explode", firing off all 8 racks in their midst.  Then jump back out over a building.
Just as they started to react, my 3 ac20 urbies would step out, usually under the minimum range for PPCs, and mop them up.
One of the campaigns I was in for years was kinda inspired by Patlabor/ Appleseed/ nlNew Dominion Tank Police, and was about a lance of Davion Milita/ Cops on a world on the Kurita/Periphery/Davion border.  The "real" unit assigned to the planet was usually raiding, so it left it to 4 Urbies to protect the capitol, from Snakes and Pirates.
Campaign started pre 3050, where the Martyr had 4 SRM6 (2 front/2 aft), and eventually went just plain silly when I slapped 8 Clan SSRM4s on it.

UrbanRaven dominated a PUG game. That seems to be anecdotal complete validation of many other ideas around here.

hey...

I want 50pages of Urbie insanity. If we can knock that out in our sleep, arguing and bitching aboutbSHS, why not a positive, warm and cuddly subject, like Urbie. I bet you they have Urbie Bobblehead, and Urbieplush nights at the Solaris Games.

Plus, admittedly, the rage and gnashing from the "hatahs" would be epic. I got a revised version of the lol guy I need to post this morning, been too busy and keep forgetting too, so guess I'll wander to Starbucks and pirate some bandwidth. Only real knock with my digs in Mexico, no internet, and I don't have my art supplies. Or a scanner.

Urban mech as a module or via command console: allows to place an AI control urban mech on a point on the map under the influence of the team. The urban mech will protect the area (square on the map) where it's been deployed and fire on enemy mech coming in its range.

As a playable mech? Nah, not interested.
