For me...I was able to manage any typing BEFORE the implementation of the new opening screen.
It wasnt perfect but it was forgiving. Now, you have to be VERY careful.
As well, nothing sucks more than trying to type out something lengthy and then the screen changes and you have to do it all over again

Please...fix Chat!

I think the devs current implementation of backspace is a great feature as it makes people think before they type as they cant just easily wipe it out.
I type quickly and inaccurately... it's a talent

Anyway, I'll try to report an enemy location and I'll usually key in something useless like "ed4 altas plus phract" and then look up and see the location I've given is worthless... I hold down the back-arrow key... and it moves one location over. ARGH!
So, annoyed (and also now being shot by said Atlas and Cataphract) I hit Esc twice and report NOTHING.
So yes, you may be getting more intelligible chat... but you are missing out on comms altogether from players like me.

Personally I'd like for my chat to stop shutting me down and overriding my mech when I use "o" or "p" as the last letter in teamchat, I'd also like to see the messages that just disappear after pressing enter stop doing that, and I'd like someone to fix up the "double up" chat bug that displays a chat message twice sometimes.
The idea that not being able to press Esc to close the chat prompt is an intentional gameplay feature that improves the player experience is ******* laughable, by the way, and I'd advise whoever suggested it to hop in their time machine and get back to working on Windows 2000, thanks.

For everyone complaining about deleting one character at a time, do you not know about keyboard shortcuts like SHIFT + HOME (highlights all text to front of line from cursor) or SHIFT + END (highlights all text to end of line from cursor), CTRL + Arrow Left or Arrow Right (skips cursor to beginning/end of current word) and when used with SHIFT will highlight...
If your preferred method is holding down a key, try these key combos out to have even more control of your text.

I do this on my desktop; but many games don'e support it so I have yet to teach my dumb brain to use it in game. Your method is definitely a workaround; but it's not a solution. It's not like backspace never worked; it used to so many updates ago.

I write for a living. I use this *all* the time, but this is the first game I've played that supports them.

I guess I am just so used to it working in MW:O that I never stopped to think about all the times it hasn't in other games!
