6 times SRM4 = 18 heat (plus more tonage free to add more heatsinks)

As for sustained fire, the SRM 4 Boat can shoot more alphas than the SRM6 boat before overheating.

CPLT-A1 SRM6 with Max sutained DPS at 5,40

CPLT-A1 SRM4 with bigger engine, more heatsinks and more ammo added fro teh saved tonnage with a max DPS of 5,66

The SRM6 Cat can easily outdamage the SRM4 cat in terms of Alpha damage and take down a low armored opponent, but the SRM4 Cat and easily outlast the SRM6 Cat in a prolonged firefight.

Saw a (very slow) 6 PPC stalker last night. It was great watching him shoot, shutdown, powerup, shoot....the whole match.

Are you sure you are not talking about a 4ERPPC Atlas RS?

Had one today: Match begins and a guy asks who else on our team is slow... he's clocking in at around 47 kph. I assumed he was in an assault mech with a downsized engine (painful enough)... nope, it was a medium mech. I can't even imagine why this happened...

Wow. After reading some of the builds here I don't feel so bad about the atlas I am playing.

And the more I play the atlas the more I get the feeling its not for me.

I did not expect this, but the 3xLRM15+2xMPLAS Atlas has been topped. By the same thing sans lasers.

BTW, maybe the first post could be edited to include, say, 3 "top" builds for every chassis.

While there are many terrible builds out there, some can actually be useful. At first I thought a Catapult A1 with just 4 SRM 6 was bad, until I blew its side torso off to reveal it was running standard and it kept brawling. Clever. In another match, I saw a Blackjackbomb (BJ with 2xAC20). Slow, weak but one big punch. It got a kill before being murdered.

In a completely unrelated tangent, I was messing around in mechlab and found that you can indeed drop 28.5 million on a rubbish yet functional mech. AS7-K Please don't run this.

Interestingly, when you buy a brand new D-DC (post patch) it doesn't come with the ECM equipped. You have to earn/have enough c-bills to buy it first, then equip it.

Before they added engine limits I tried throwing a 400 STD into an Atlas to see what else I could fit in there.

I think I managed an SRM4 and 4 small lasers. It was rather ineffective.

I ran a rediculously terrible dragon while i was getting some money to finish the upgrades when i got tired of my other three mechs. I did get a 3 kill match in it somehow

Sounds like you basically build a Charger! Not that doing so is a good thing, of course... hehehe

On Mw4 i got the bad habit to strip all the speed of the Mechs in order to cram as many weapons as possible, then balance the heat.

When i get into the closed Beta very little i knew about the way MWO mounts Mech so i keep the very same principle and tried my 1st Atlas crammed in a STD 100 and put on as many weapons as possible.

I can't remember the exact loadout but i do remember it took me 5 mins to move something like 2x Squares in forest colony before a light Mech started to cap my base and i had to return... think the top speed was soemthing between 18 and 28 Kph.
