Saw a splatcat full of SRM4's today...I can't even begin to imagine how he couldn't find the extra tons to upgrade them to SRM6's.

I run 4xSRM 4 and 2xSRM 6, or 6xSRM 4, faster reload (it seems), less weight, more ammo/heat sinks - Larger engine or standard engine = increased change of survival and agility.

Most inexplicably bad? Depends a bit on whatever the current meta was, but I think anything "boating" MGs or SLs /SPLs qualifies for the most part regardless of when.....

But one that I`ll probably never forget was a D-DC w/o ECM sporting 2 tags, 3xLRM5, and an AC/2..... Something about that build just screamed "Kill me before I do it myself"... I was inclined to oblige him, but he was on my team

4s are legit actually.....less heat = more sustained, slightly less burst.

More importantly, more ammo.... When I run my "true" Splatcat I tend to run out before I die and find myself jumping around drawing fire or capping becasue It`s allI can still do. With SRM4s (and more ammo) I usually die before it`s all spent and have similar overall dmg. I`m thinking the ideal may be a 4/2 mix of 4s and 6s, at least with current dmg values, however tuesday may change that to favor the 6x6 setup...

Those citing flamer swaybacks or SHS Assault builds are (possibly) missing the point, I would refer to those as more likely being a Trollbuild / Jokebuild and a Work in Progress / Active Construction Site, respectively.

Cicada with four flamers and a MG, I think. In his/her defense, it WAS really fun to watch and I'm sure it was driving their target crazy.

LRM-20 Raven, firing a stream of missiles, 1-2 at a time, through its narc tube... then watching the target's AMS pick off every single missile.

What is it about the Atlas chassis that brings out the worst in mech design?

Just spectated on an Atlas with 2 LBX-10's and a few SRM's. That's it. He had no arm weapons, nothing that could hit past 300m or so, and nothing that could focus damage. I have no idea... The sad irony is that these bad builds often die last because they aren't a threat and tend to hang in the back. Don't know how many times I've watched the guy with the horrible build (often on an assault chassis) end up last man standing on our team because nobody took him as a threat the whole match.

A Jenner that went 68kph for its top speed. Only had medium lasers. Guy claimed he was contributing.

Sometimes I forget that not everyone spent hours min/maxing on tabletop datasheets, and thus have about the same idea of how to build a good mech as they would with starter ship fittings in Eve. I still shudder to think of what I did to those poor Rifters.

Six medium lasers maybe? That sounds like he kept trying to add heat sinks because he was overheating, but didn't understand upgrades or thought they where too expensive, so he kept trying to find other ways to save weight until he dropped in the engine he got with his Commando. Too bad that even with 17 single heat sinks it would still be overheating a lot.

When you put an arm-mounted 14 ton cannon on a 35-ton mech it should spin in circles every time it shoots ;)

When i read this i had to create this animation :P

Saw a Catapult with a single LBX-10. He was the last alive and by the time I switched to him he still had over 80 rounds of ammo left. Pretty much filled up the thing with ammo for his one weapon....

Update from the OP with a new potential winner:

Jenner-D
-Four small pulse lasers
-Slow (slower than stock) standard engine
-No armor on side torsos

Four small pulse? They're pretty bad, but that's just the icing on this ****-cake. How do you make a slow Jenner that mounts nothing, AND have zero armor on the side torsos? That's right - not one or two armor just to maintain the illusion - he's just begging to be vaporized. He didn't get it shot off, either; he dropped like that. Maybe even on purpose.

This? Or something? I don't even know.

***** please, I rocked the AC20 Raven at launch (alias The Tetatae for its hilarity) and had it planned since the raven was announced, and I managed to get 7 kills and 280 damage... 280 because I ran outa ammo.

I wasn't hating, I just find a small light with a big cannon funny. I have seen the video on youtube with a group of Ravens with that build, nasty little ankle bitters. ;)

Well, depending on the definition of, "bad mech," it can range from this

to this

It's a matter of perspective. Tails or heads. Dead or alive. It's yours to decide.
