not sure just did a very quick poor mock up and it seems the madness method is more ammo and better heat with a slight dps gain.

depends which heavy you compare to which assault. speed, armour and heat management along with profile are factors on the battlefield that even the figures can't predict, you just never know. thank god for now we have testing grounds!

Yeah, you can say that now.
Back in closed beta I had an RS atlas with 44SHS and 4Large Lasers.
It still ran hot, then again in those days Large Lasers were 10 heat due to a bug.

Last night I saw a Dragon with AMS and only weapon being LBX. Then there ofcourse have been Raven-3L' without ECM or Swaybacks with only flamers or even worse - Awesome with only flamers, it's not awesome.

Well congrats to you. I had AMS at the time... and I've seen only at most two on an A1... and well, he died IIRC.

There was a guy in a recent match that had a phract with one Gauss Rifle. He got kills with it somehow, but he said he forgot some weapons on it. Go figure.

i droped once in my x2 lbx-10 catapult forgot to equip my 4 ml and no ammo. The worst part is i ended up be one of the last ones left. I guess every one was laughing to hard or just wached with pitty as i scampered by.

Hopefully with the training ground now in the game people will be less likely to use these strange builds.

Wrong. They'll go into training ground, see their weapons work with zero lag or other assorted quirks that are courtesy of MWO Magic Netcode™, and go "SURELY THIS IS AMAZING AND WILL WORK JUST AS WELL!"

Then they'll get in game and promptly swatted down by cookie-cutter Jumpphracts, Splatcats, and -3Ls. The sound their 'Mech will make as it hits the ground will be "NOPE".

This weekend I dropped with a 16-player syncdrop in a spider with just a TAG.
I was rearming the spider when I was told to get ready, so I closed the Mechlab and forgot to reselect my normal mech.
To make things worse, I ended up the last player alive on my team.

so long as training grounds doesn't match the latency and has an enemy that stands still it is no true test of a good build, just target practice and heat /ammo management. effecient at fighting is a different story...

I saw an AS7-D with a PPC and a medium laser in the arms and a large laser in the CT. I think he had some mix of LRMs in the missile hardpoints.

It does however solve some issues like teaching very basic skills. It won't get you far but you're better off than hot dropping into your first match with zero idea of what's going on.

I could post so many screenshots.

The worst by far was a DDC running triple LRM5, a single AC5, and AMS. That's it. The rest of his weight as ammo and single heatsinks.

Last night I came across an Atlas (not sure which variant) with a single LRM-10, and 2 Medium Lasers... That one didn't make sense.... was he loaded to the gills with LRM ammo? He sure went up like a firecracker...
