Any scout 'boating ppcs' ...as an opposing scout all I can think is YUM!!!

With the questions on the LRM5s I think I can explain. Earlier in beta the AMS would tend to chew through the first volley of missiles that it encountered and then had a hard time with subsequent volleys if they were within a few seconds. If you chain fired the LRM5s it kinda overloaded the AMS a bit and tended to get in there good. If I remember right it also tended to put all the missiles in one section with the smaller LRMs.

This could be someone coming back after a long time and thinking that is still a valid build.

Probably not the worst build, but kind of silly.

Also, any catapult build that goes straight LRMs with no backup weapons, but those are almost too common to mention. Saw one cat that added 2 small lasers for backup. That was painful to spectate when he was out of ammo and the brawlers got to him.

For fun, I once tried to make an "ultra crit" build on my Ilya with an LB-10X, 2 machine guns, and I think 3 MPL. Trashed that build very quickly :)

I don't understand the hate for using a DDC without ECM. That's like yelling at anybody who uses anything other than an ECM variant since they coulda taken the ECM version instead. Sometimes you just need those last couple slots or tons to make the build you have in mind work. Now that the ECM is in a fixed place that happens much more often. I did play around with 3LRM15's in the DDC which can't be done in the other Atlases or with ECM. I don't particularly like the 1 large ballistic + a couple large energy weapon Atlas builds so was trying some variety to see what worked better for me. I then decided I don't really like the Atlas period, but the LRM45 version (with 2 heavy energy weaps) wasn't all that bad.

When you lose game after game because you're going up against missile boats and nobody on your entire team has ECM, you'd rage at the ECM-less D-DC too. I'm glad you shot a few more missiles. I'm proud of you. We lost the game directly because of it. ECM affects more than just you and you should be aware that if you take a mech capable of carrying ECM, you are expected to have it.

As you can plainly see, regardless of K/D ratio, ECM wins games. More than twice as many.

I stand firmly behind the people who count ECM-less D-DCs as terribad builds.

So what? The flamer is kinda pointless, sure, but ams and tag make somewhat sense for a scout if it is fast enough..

A few from today:

1) Awesome 8T with 2 LRM 20's. That's it. No TAG, no close-in weapons, nothing. He ended up last one alive, and the enemy team stripped him of every component but 1 leg and then walked away to base-cap. Ouch.

2) Hunchback 4G with 2 medium lasers and 3 Machine Guns. I have no idea... No autocannon... nothing. May as well have put small lasers in all the energy slots and achieve the goal of building a mech that uses all hardpoints and deals almost no damage.'

3) Atlas DDC with a bunch of LRM 15's, 2 medium lasers... nothing else. Forgot about the ballistic apparently.
