All the Dragon hate. I love my dragons. I have the 1N and Flame. I did have the 1C for a while but I sold it as I can do the same setups with the Flame and more. I have no trouble getting high damage numbers or 2-3 kills with my dragons. I do not run my dragons as brawlers, but my setups are able to do just fine in tight. Most players only want to brawl within 200m of each other. That is why many dislike the Dragon.

ANY light mech other than the Raven 3L is worthless in any serious min/maxed competitive environment. Which is a shame because I love the Jenner 7D

No mech is obsolete. Its just the min/max herd mentality. Someone makes a post saying that mechs x, y, and z are the best so everyone starts playing only those mechs. After a while, nobody bothers to play anything else and now we have a post asking if they're obsolete.

Any mech perceived as useless instantly gains a big 'ignore me and shoot someone else' tag. That's why we drive em. My biggest numbers ever have come from driving a P class Hunchie with SHS and Small Lasers. My prime ride is a FLAME, in which I quietly support my teams brawlers until it all hits the fan. A 2A Cicada with 2 LPL and 4 SL cruising about at 120 at the battle's edge can rack up some serious damage dealt.

'Prime Mechs'? You're welcome to them.

I agree with your point, however there will always be a "mech" that's worse than all the others :3 Maybe I should change it from Obselete to least usable xD ?

The only mech that fits into that category is the Spider and even then, the mech has massive potential.

Just imagine making it our Scout from TF2.

There is a good blog on that topic: http://www.destructo...ut-242878.phtml

Spiders for sure, their lack of firepower is their real drawback they really need to make having lots of Jump Jets actually worrth the investment. Spiders should be the fastest and most manuverable of all the lights hands down. Also they need to improve rewards on maps like conquest for mechs that take the time to capture points which would give at least one mission type a spider could excell in.

Commandos are a close second barring the 2D they have to make too many sacrifices to get good weapons or speed and their lack of armor/hitboxes/ and middleground light speed make them so much easier to pop.

Spiders are terrible vs another light mech. But otherwise they're awesome. I've been scaring the **** out of anything 35+ tons all afternoon in mine.

Now Dragons, THERE'S a bad mech (cue pages of hate)

You're missing specific variants. (Commando, obsolete unless it mounts ECM, same as Spider and Raven)

Specifically I'd like to point to the non-3L Ravens as useless, but in general I really have to say it's the Spider. Some of my friends who played the TT tell me that there its ability to punch and well as shoot made it pretty powerful in close range. However, without any additional melee attacks or other weapons it completely underwhelms compared to the Jenner.

Also, the comparison to the TF2 Scout in the destructoid article isn't very helpful. TF2's a game with different weapons for different classes, and all the Scout primaries hit extremely hard at close range. Do they remember the original Sandman? It was a weapon that removed the Scout's double jump entirely yet was still quite overpowered. MWO, on the other hand, has the same weapons for every mech and there's not a lot of firepower that you can stick into three energy hardpoints when all you have is 30 tons to work with.

I dislike the dragon cause the Catapult can do everything better.

The only thing the dragon has on a catapult is speed, but when it goes that fast it is outgunned by mediums which makes it worthless.

Not much tougher than a hunchback but with some of the worst hitboxes in the game. and likely not carrying enough firepower to be of major concern.

I've seen each mech have the potential to do great things... except the Spider (for the most part). The only decent config I've seen had 1 Large Laser and 2 Medium lasers, the rest are usually pretty weak.

Fun to play: Each Mech offers at least one option that is viable.

Minmax sucess: 3 Mechs viable - all others obsolete.

Most of the light mechs (including the "Cicada") have terrible variants outside of the Jenner. The Spider on the other hand has the most mobility (although comparable to the Jenner somewhat), but the worst firepower of them all. 30 tons should be more potent than the Commando.

Spider.
Only the ECM spider is worthwhile and that's not competitive with the COM-2D.

Spider will get better when they remove the artificial engine size limits necessitated by net code issues. A 180 KPH light will have it's uses, even with poor weapon loadouts.
